Really enjoy your channel - so much fun. I know Rumford well as I had a camp in Andover years ago (wish I never let it go). and used to ski Sunday River in Bethel twice a month. Best wishes

The clean up buddy looks like a nice tool! You don't need kiln dried firewood. I sold firewood as a sideline for ten years. My biggest year was over 200 cords. You don't want to burn green wood. it takes different amounts of time to dry different wood. White ash and maple dry faster than oak. It takes about six months, if it's kept in the sun. Some wood pops and snaps even when it's completely dry. Like cedar and hemlock. A kiln uses moisture to dry wood slower, and to keep it stable and not case hardened, for cabinets and finish carpentry. I now dry my firewood in a hoop house. It dries it the opposite of a kiln. It sometimes gets over 130 degrees F. and 28 percent moisture. Thats like stacking your firewood in death valley! Keep up the great videos!! Mark B

I've made the mistake of not buying kiln dried hardwood for my wood stove and the sparks burned my tent. The Kiln Dried doesn't do that and the stove manufacturer also reccomends Kiln Dried Firewood for that reason.
@markbelanger57575 ай бұрын
@@hipbeeexplorer Well kiln dried isn't a bad thing, that's for sure. Thanks for all the help finding gold, and all the laughs with the gold dance, and of course the Hip Bee!

Just another thought on firewood. Hope you don't mind me mentioning this again. I know you and Tom run a pretty tight ship. And I admire the way you guys stay out in the woods and keep testing rivers and steams! It's alot of fun to watch! Kiln dried firewood can cost as much as 700$ a cord ouch! I was doing some research on some people that bought small bundles of kiln dried firewood. They had a moisture meter, and split some of the bigger pieces in have. They put there moisture meter on the fresh split part, and found it still wet. apparently they didn't leave it in long enough. how about compressed wood? Like bio bricks? there's alot of different types of them out there. They are dry as a bone, insect free, and burn hot like coal. They don't pop either. Not when I used them. Maybe there is also something you could spray on the roof of the tent to make it fire proof? I don't claim to know everything. Just wanted to help if I could. Mark.
@hipbeeexplorer5 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, we have used bio bricks before but the issue we have is finding them where we camp as we don’t have room in Our truck to bring them with us. We do have a tent shield that goes over the outside where the tent is but we try not to burn that either. Fire logs that are the compressed stuff makes too much ash and we need to clean it daily. So far kiln dried hardwood has had the best performance. I don’t mind answering questions at all.
@markbelanger57575 ай бұрын
@@hipbeeexplorer Well if Kiln dried has worked the best you would know, Your the one running the stove. But when you pay the big price for kiln dried, you should get 100% dry wood. Vendetta Prospectors seem to give you a generous amont of gold in there pay dirt. I like your tent. It's nice and roomy.

When using the micro mat be sure to run a brush across the mat to make sure there is no more bubbles present. Bubbles won’t let the gold into the cells creating a loss. Nice to see your gold catching videos. Heavy pans.
@hipbeeexplorer5 ай бұрын
Yes, I normally do but sometimes I forget. Although as you can see there was a lot of bubbles in that Matt and it didn’t stop the gold from dropping in them cells. It still did really good. I put an old toothbrush in the box

Liked, shared and commented. Maybe I missed it. But DM. Needs its release agents washed off with soap n a brush. It may have contributed to one or 2 of the lost flakes. Great video. I love venison.🐝🗽🤴🏻 35:04

I seen before you pulled that mat out there was a bunch of air bubbles in the dream mat it's always good to hit that with a toothbrush first get all those bubbles out or else the black sand and gold won't go in those holes

for system where there is no on/off switch i use a small power strip with a power button. plug system into the power strip, plug the power strip in a power supply, then you have a on/off switch for the system. this method i use on my sluice and also on my clean up buddy.

I run the clean-up buddy sluice on the slowest setting. I also classify first to 4 classifications so everything is the same size..... +20, -20 +50, -50 +100, and -100 mesh. That makes it so much easier to catch that fly poop flour gold in real cons........not paydirt.
