Yeah I found an old interview video on KZbin about it. I have Gash and I wish UD didn't discontinued it. It's like a satin that blends a like darker and matte but packs more shimmery but it's subtle because the particles are so small. Literally it's the eyeshadow that gives the red emo one shadow look😂

I was too young to see MCR in person but I did get to see Frank Iero back in like 2016 I think when he was just starting to put out solo material (I wanna say when it was Frank Iero and the Celebration days?) Ahhh I'm so envious of you, what an awesome experience. I really would've loved to see them in the Revenge days, my friends and I nearly got tickets but my parents didn't want me going to London without an adult. I did get to see them on the Black Parade tour and the Danger Days tour, both at Wembley Arena (RIP) - from RIGHT at the back of the place. I bloody love them, and I love this look, so much! 12 year old Charlotte would 1000000% wear the hell out of this. I was still "bigger" back then and options for anyone over a UK size 12 did not exist for emos back then.

Bless your friend for inviting you to that concert, RIP your dad's Joe Cocker experience lol. I seriously loved your whole story SO MUCH, though. I didn't properly notice MCR until the Black Parade days, but I've been low-key obsessed with Gerard Way's style for years. I think I read an interview with him once where he said one of his favorite eyeshadows was Gash from Urban Decay. I was a little surprised when the two reds in this palette didn't look much like that shade, but then I realized the browns let you pretty much mix it yourself. Thank you for the flashbacks to no red eyeshadow. I'm 36 and I remember being a sad baby goth desperately trying to find an eyeshadow that would make me look like a consumptive, dying vampire and coming up with nothing. In a minute I'm gonna go stare creepily at all my red eyeshadows and tell them how much I appreciate them XD I think this is my favorite Helena video look I've seen. They're all fun to watch, but this one felt like it best captured that good, gothy grunginess, you look stunning! 🖤

Gorgeous! My teen years are a bit before MCR time, the 90's were my jam with Tool (met them, so awesome meeting Maynard!), Radiohead (met them, so cool meeting Thom and the gang), Belly (met them, same tour and night as Radiohead), Live (met them), and Marilyn Manson (before these current issues, got to meet him specifically). But I do like the Emo aesthetic and some of the music though I'm more Goth deep down in my heart and soul. You look amazing, as always... and yes, black hair is stunning on you, I have a thing for dark haired people!

i wasn't into mcr but i was (and still am) a huge fan of brody dalle & the distillers. her eye makeup was like panda eyes but with reddish/copperish/orange shadow with black eyeliner & mascara, kinda similar to what you got here. and let me tell you, i wore that look OUT! it's honestly still my favorite and i've reverted to it at this point. i just love it so much. oh, and i can definitely attest to the absolute DEARTH of reds back then. i remember just using a mac blush for that, ha.

I’m actually preeeettty close to your age (gonna be 30 in April) and to think about baby me discovering MCR 18 years ago is giving me so many emotions. I remember watching the Helena music video in my grandparent’s basement on MTV for the first time and I lost my mind! Even way back then I was obsessed with makeup and I remember scouring any sources I could find to figure out what eyeshadow that at least Gerard wore. The script automatically filled his cart with a set number of items and automatically purchased them. It's a sketchy concept for a lot of reasons, not least of which is potential for abuse.... My daughter was a total emo-scene kid. I STILL have her dolly falls, black platform boots, mini skirts with the buckles and chains, etc.... she had every color hair imaginable and a mohawk. I grew up in Australia and the only time I got to see MCR was when they supported Green Day during their American Idiot tour. I was more excited to see MCR than Green Day. I never got to see them play again. There are so many bands I never got to see as a kid and I will forever be jealous of Europe and NA for all the bands they had chances to see before they "got big". I remembered as a kid looking for wacky makeup but that shit just DID NOT exist, let alone in Australia! KIDS THESE DAYS!!! Late thirties me thanks you for this cuz I too saw/experienced the scene/emo/punk scenes via the internet because of where I live (Barbados) I got named the gothy witch chick because of hair/makeup/music aesthetic choices during my younger days and even getting black single eyeshadow was difficult (black eye liner pencils existed but at the time everyone was still rocking those black liner/pink shimmery lipstick lips -_- the 90's in Barbados/ the Caribeean was wild lmao). Not to mention that I wanted to be different, so of course my color of choice was navy blue.
