I saw this concert in Boise, ID 1986, amazing! There was a bomb threat after B.T.O. opened, crowd went outside for 1 1/2 hrs then went back in saw this masterpiece of a show!

Small part of this was Eddie warm up exercise when during their club gigs Recording their debut album,it lead into a track..All of it in one take to get it on the album.He never played it the same.From 1978-2015

Great reaction to this masterpiece we are so lucky to have captured on film. There are lots of live performances of Edward doing a solo but all are low quality videos and audio but here you get to hear it as it was live. This was pieces of music put together from tens of thousands of hours just playing the guitar and coming up with different ways to achieve sounds. One thing particular about these sounds and playing is the tone. The tone instantly grabs you in the beginning with3:16 (from balance I think it was) his tone was an innovative accomplishment in his early days by marrying Strat style bodies and tremlo with Gibson fat sounding humbucker along with other innovative designs to control feedback and angling of the pickup along with a maple neck which has his hands and finger tips permanently indented into the fretboard. This tone can only be achieved by his mind and his fingers only. If you pick up his guitar it will sound like you, when he picks it up it sounds like God! Btw I love your shirt”go Wolfpack”! Rock on!

Van Halen The most popular lead singers were David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, the Red Rocker. The bassist and higher vocals was Michael Anthony, later replaced with Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen ( he has a band called WVH Mammoth). The drummer is Alex Van Halen, Eddie's older brother. They immigrated from Amsterdam, because their mother is Indonesian and considered a second class citizen in the Netherlands. Alex and Eddie would have also been looked down on because they are biracial. So they traveled by ship here, part of the fare being covered by playing music. Father, Jan Van Halen, an accomplished jazz musician, played multiple instruments and the boys played piano. They were so good they were even invited to the captain's table. Arriving in the US, the boys had a rough go of it, since they didn't speak English. Alex wasn't picked on much because he is tall, like their dad. Edward "Eddie" Lodewijk (Ludwig) Van Halen was small like their mom. He got picked on a lot and was protected by his black friends. His parents both worked multiple jobs to pay bills and cover the piano lessons. There were yearly classical piano competitions and Eddie won three years in a row starting at 8, 9 or 10 years old (some ridiculous age ). Imagine the horror of their strict, Russian, ruler-wielding piano teacher, when he learned that his star pupil couldn't read music. 😮 Eddie was just copying what he saw his teacher playing. 😂 He did learn though, as he wrote the band's music. Eddie wanted to play drums and paid for them with his paperboy earnings. Alex got a guitar. Eddie, upon coming home and hearing Alex playing his drums ("Wipeout") decided to play Alex's guitar. And as they say, "The rest is history." Eddie is responsible for many innovations and inventions. He IS the EVH line, it came from hearing a specific sound "in his brain" and then recreating it with his gear. I remember him going for a "brown sound". So many things he has accomplished. Always grinning. 😄 RIP Edward. I miss your smiling face.

Not to be a snob, (but.... I'm going to be anyway) but this is completely backwards/inverted video in which Edward Van Halen is now playing a left-handed guitar even though.... as MANY fans do NOT know, King Edward was actually left handed... but he NEVER played a left-handed guitar in his life. I feel for most casual fans, this is not a big deal, but I DO play this incredible instrument too. But how one plays it? Who CARES! Rock it, roll it, hit it and get it, do it to it. and be as INNOVATIVE in however manner necessary to kick as in your own way. If one needs to use a differnt power tool or even a tusk from an walrus to find some nuance that belongs to you? Well, that's Edward territory if you can find it. But the backwards video thing? HOnestly, this is playing with my equilibrium entirely and dare i say, a bit "bi-polar" myself. Understandably, this is just a production glitch .... but it a difficult one to overcome. Bottom line, left or right tilted.... the man still shows why he is easily the most influential and most innovated rock and roll guitar player who has graced the world. HIs DNA continues to be a part of rock and roll more than anyone else who has ever lived. Not Hendrix, not Beck, not Page, etc., not ANY of them have done what Edward Van Halen has done. May he shred in peace along with the rest of the great ones who he is now jamming with.

I also agree, my OCD couldn't handle watching the video. If reactors don't know how to use the broadcasting software or how to film correctly with their damn phones, they should learn or quit making reaction videos.

@@module79l28 Haha!!! Well, I don't know if I would go that far--- these folks are all putting effort into a particular nuance that is being widely used now in order to earn some income. That's fine and I applaud them for it, but at the same time, yes, I too agree that there needs to be just a little more attention to some of the details that matter the audience they are intending to capture--- and paying attention to your viewerships comments matter too. (Although, I don't think that's very realistic either since there are just WAY to many of them to keep up with. Don't fault them for that either.) And trust me, my own HoneyBunny has OCD herself and believe me, I get it!! It's just a quirk to me and nothing malicious, but being around her every day, I tell her "No, honey, I'm not going to make the kleenex rag look geomentrically even and beautiful coming out of the box." She laughs, she gets it and understands too. Anyway, thanks for the comment, the chuckle and have yourself a terrific remainder of your weekend!!

He’s more a show off than anything, he’s not as great as he thinks he is. Jimmy Page proves his excellence in every song, to bad you can’t see the long version of Dazed & Confused anymore. Page playing his guitar with a violin bow, & mastering it, is out of this world.

Not surprising though, everyone with a phone and an opinion willing to share their opinion even though have no idea wtf they are talking about. That’s an interesting take considering EVH can actually play everything Page ever wrote and Page couldn’t even begin to do the things EHV diid, especially that clean, live. Look up some Van Halen playing Zep. You’d be amazed.
