I don't get it probably because iive in europe, but the judge sentences this dude 15 years count 1, 10 years count 2 and 5 years count 3? Does this mean he has to serve 30 years in prison or is it a total of 15 years? I don't get this kind of sentencing. Give the guy one sentence not 3.

they are consecutive sentences so it's 30 total. it would be just 15 had they been concurrent

one can be sentenced for each crime they committed, if you stole a car and fled police and then ran someone over and they died you could be charged with felony auto theft, felony fleeing, and felony first degree murder, each carries a different range of sentence, if the sentence is consecutive you add all of the sentences, if it's concurrent you take the longest sentence. Just because someone is sentenced to thirty years does not mean they will serve thirty years, sometimes a minimum of x years is given, other times there is minimum time that must be served before they are eligible for parole. O. J. was sentenced to about 33 years, he only served about 9.
