I been using that “Double Dutch” phrase for a while (almost 20 yrs), that was the only way I could describe it to people back in the day, when having rap conversations with people. It’s good to see someone as legendary as Day, describe it the same exact way. Only difference is Cass’ had to break it down first, how he was doing it, for Day to see it, in his own mind. I understood it in the early 2000s cause I was a big Cass fan, and I study flows intricately. And I saw that that double dutch style was almost strictly a Philly thing. The whole State Prop has it, but in their own way. Beans & Free was doing it on, What We Do... and Jay-Z even used it on that song too. Cass was just doing it way more sharper, intricate & consistently... and with back to back punches. Cass flow way more complex than he makes it sound on record. He does it more effortlessly, so it’s easier to follow vs Free’s way of doing it. I think the way Free was rapping against Cass would sound way better & translate way better on a big stage. All them in between words & drawn out bars is pretty much what most are doing now! Free could definitely come bar in today’s era & probably do very well. This is a dope video! 💯✌🏾👑 Sidenote: I feel if Cass speed up his delivery a few notches, almost to the tempo he flows in mixtapes, and use that style for most of his bars, and save the slow, intricate flow that people are hating him for now, for just when he goes into a scheme or personal bars, he’d be the Cass’ that all want him to be. As a big mixtape Cass fan, I get what the people that think he fell of are saying. He’s slowly figuring out how to perfect his sauce, in this new era. The more he stays involved & close to people like Day, Mook, etc. He’s gonna perfect it ver very soon. Cass has almost all of the Infinity Stones, he’s working on obtaining the last one, and that’s what everything he’s doing is really all about. He showing love & all, and that’s dope but, his real objective is getting that last stone, and he’s gonna get during this tournament. While this tournament is going on, he’s gonna be sitting back studying everybody, including those not in the leagues, all to perfect his own sauce. He’s creating a diversion (which is actually a “New Era Battle Rap Crash Course” for himself to study) & buying him some time, to master his sauce, which is a excellent & intelligent strategy. 👀 #PeepGame #TheScience

You're right. He didn't want to admit freeway was advanced back then. Especially when talking about wordplay that was frees strong point with delivery.
@TheEnviedKid3 жыл бұрын
Cass is explaining the disconnect between him & what the culture sees as “fire” now a days . Cass constructs his shit on the number of rhymed syllables in every line leading up the punchline . This was high level during his era Now a days what the culture deems as fire is Double and triple entendres , with punches throughout the set up that lead to a bigger punch . So cass can here a crazy scheme , a wild angle , a crazy haymaker , But if it doesn’t stack syllables specifically .. he won’t think it’s fire .
@stevisellemckenzie37083 жыл бұрын
This new era isn’t all about syllables though. Cassidy wants to format battling to a style he’s comfortable doing, but what happens if you want to talk to your opponent and expose him in a creative way, then the syllable angle might not work nor sound as good. The syllable flow would sound much better on a freestyle or beat to what Cassidy is talking about.

I like how Daylyt is humble foreal, cuz in all these videos that hes been in not ONCE has he boasted bout having loaded lux, and or having rum/shine duck him!!! Like c'mon y'all Daylyt is the ultimate chess player when it comes to battle rap, he knows when and when not to say some shit. He may be looked at as this or that but in all honesty he knows whats moves to make at the appropriate time
