Dame Dash has been singing this song for a while and there's truth in everything he's saying. Your time and independence is the most valuable asset you have. Corporate experience is good but it can only take you so far, take a calculated risk and learn how to be self sufficient. There will be ups and downs but if you persevere the mindset you'll develop will be priceless.

Independence is a big step. But everything he is and has said in the past is correct. The hustle is hard when you run a business. But the life lessons you learn far outway the financial reward. It makes you a battle hardened person, male or female. Im here in Australia loving Dames content. It should be taken as motivation and not a small mided thought of " oh yeah how can i afford to do what you are saying, you are rich". Yeah. He hustled, flipped and took a risk with roc. Thats work...

I don’t think his checks are dry...AT ALL!!👤Honestly this man has way too much debt because he one some tycoon shit, but still applying basic and intermediate flip moves..the numbers are just bigger, and eventually it gonna connect cause he has a lot in his favor (experience& confidence) and rich intellectual property (Jay’Z first album). Dame is definitely getting bread, don’t believe the hype. 💯

Actually I don’t see your point either based what your trying to imply. 🤔🤔🤔 Look just stop it ight. Your a bitter 9-5 guy who obviously can wrap your mind around what Mr. Dash is talking about. He 💯 percent correct about what he is talking about. If anyone thinks this guy is “broke” it actually is only true reflect of your common sense which would appear to be BROKEN. He owns Jay z’s first album, he still recieves publishing revenue from master and copyrights of sound recording on all roc a fella releases that have his name as exec-producer...that means jay z and kanye, and all them other cats. This man gave 2m lee Daniels to get his career started as director when nobody would..he launched his career, he is responsible for putting Kevin Hart on. he produced plenty of movies including Paid in Full-Classic Movie. Anyone who can’t see this man is definitely business minded and still successful is probably a HOV dick rider or just plain goofy. Either way it’s complete waste of time.. the fact that he has a streaming service is amazing all into its self. Why you worried his pockets like that anyway.. just listen and learn.the man has jewels..don’t be remedial about this. You are smarter than that.💯

The journey of owning a business; the lessons, the character that's built, the sets backs and successes are super priceless. Most people fear the unknown. Most people lack the ability to think for themselves, they have been so trained as little children to do what we are told and this natural faculty weakens. Most people fear the unknown and lack creativity/true usage of imagination. I blame parents, school systems and church for aiding in weakening children's ability to think for themselves. Whether they realize it or not. But I have always agreed with this brothers perspective. He's been preaching this forever.

We need to keep in mind that it's not always about being either a "caged dog" (worker) or a "wild dog" (boss). You can be both until you can fully take care of yourself 100% with your own business. In other words, some of us will need to keep our day jobs and have a part time business on the side and build that business until you can fire your boss and go totally independent. Don't feel like you can't be a boss b/ c right now you have a job. If you have a job, that's good. You have a way to sustain yourself while building up your business. More than one way to skin a cat. Your path to building wealth may look different than Dame's or the next man's but that's ok as long as you do it. GO FOR IT!!!

Work hard first and learn how to be a good follower. While doing that, be saving and planning your move and your plan to escape the cage that you are in right now. There is nothing wrong with being in a cage now, you can make it out. Work hard, save, plan, learn about the business you wanna start, maybe find a mentor and do an apprenticeship with them if possible (working smart). Then, make your escape from the cage. You can do it if you put in the effort and want it. It may take several attempts to get it right but it can be done. Let's get it!

The industrial revolution was the massive start to a decline in "bosses." Because before this, you had a trade, a skill. You did something that you loved (Like Dame mentions, doing it for the love). You had the freedom to do what you wanted to do and if you didn't hustle, you didn't eat. But you wanted to hustle because you loved that hustle. But the industrial revolution took away independence and gave what I believe is a false sense of comfort. Yes, you have a job to go to. But no ownership. And you open yourself up to mistreatment because you hustle another's ideas and not your own. You build up another's brand and not your own.

I love the wild dog/domesticated dog analogy. On point. But...what about additional sources of income? Yes, putting up your own money and staying "broke" is a part of entrepreneurship. I get it. But what about investments, stocks, art, real estate? Valid of sources of assets that will ensure consistent access to income.

What business world exists where you don't answer to somebody? If you run a business you will have to answer to customers, creditors, insurers, the state, the city, the county, the school district (they all want their tax money) and the IRS who also wants their tax money, and there is no way around any of that. The only reason to leave the 9-5 working world is because you can actually make enough money to replace your current income. Other than that, you're kidding yourself because most people are not meant to nor are they capable of running a successful business.

Amen! Damon Dash speak from a hood perspective. When you sell drug and have goons to keep everyone in line you can speak like that. But in fact if you can make good money in the corporate world stay safe and keep your 9 to 5 job. I ve been my how boss. You have to pay everyone before you pay yourself. In fact don t be your own boss but try to keep the company in need for your competence. If you re a good cook no restaurant can fire you. If you re a good salesman no shop can fire you.

"What business world exists where you don't answer to somebody? If you run a business you will have to answer to customers" The customer has to agree to YOUR terms for payment for services. AN employee has no such right - you're shopped around against the lowest rates and discarded when no longer of value. The customer has to pay you for however many hours you work. In salaried employment this is not the case. The customer cannot tell you HOW to do your job. Employees, they can. The customer can't tell you that you have to show up to meetings. Employees, they can. The customer can't overwork you. Employees, they can. The customer can't force you to travel. Employees, they can. The customer can't force you to do "unconscious bias training". Employees, they can. Etc etc etc etc etc.

john bael since you wanna be so technical you still have to please customers and consumers of your product or service so if you was really the boss you wouldnt have to please anyone to make a profit when you make that agreement with your customers if they are not satisfied they terminate your contract if its not exactly how they want it they will fire you and hire another contractor you are replaceable when you are providing a product or service its called competitive market which has alot of other vendors and contractors offering the same services or products you do no matter what it is

Real talk but at the end of the day nothing is yours because, we all die and someone else gets it. Owning is better than renting but if someone rents a mansion and a $200,000 whip for 30 years then his reality was the same as the owners only difference is that the owner can sell or leave it to his kids while the renter hopefully has life insurance to leave his kids a big payout when he dies.

Working for a big company is like being a servant in a castle, you may be living in the castle but you don't own anything in it, doesnt matter if you work your way up from being a servant, to a cook, a gardner or a fucking butler, you're yet a servant at the of the day. Freedom, Independence and Dignity is what you have when you start your own business and lets not even talk about Scalability lol. You can never scale up a job, you can only beg for your boss to throw you a few more crumbs while he eats the whole fuckin steak. A business on the other hand is infinitely scalable.

"you’re not a boss if you don’t have workers" False. You're a boss under three main criteria: - YOU determine when, where and how you work - YOU determine what you're getting paid - YOU can pass what you have down to family That's all. It's not about employees. That's why there's such a thing as a Sole Proprietor.

It is essential that in the corporate structure there are leadership positions and working level positions. Without this structure profitabilty cannot be obtained. Therefore it is true that everyone cannot be a quote unquote boss. This is also why it is difficult for some to become successful in their pursuit of Independence.
