The Arts, Crafts and Variety Producers Fair of Belo Horizonte, the official name of the Hippie Fair, is an important chapter in the history of the capital of Minas Gerais. Destination, on Sunday mornings, for visitors from different states and countries, the fair is the main point of reference and meeting point for the local population.
Feira Hippie was created by a group of artists and artisans in 1969, in Praça da Liberdade. Officialized in 1972 by the City Hall, the fair passed through a vigorous process of growth and national and international recognition due to the quality of the works sold there.
With around 1800 exhibitors organized in 18 sectors, the Hippie Fair has an estimated audience of 80,000 weekly visitors, employs more than 10,000 people directly and 20,000 indirectly, in addition to accounting for 0.4% of the city's GDP. Relevant statistics for an event that brings together only artists, artisans and small manufacturers once a week, on Sundays, from 7 am to 2 pm.
