The Hippiearab Podcast --- S1 E3
Goals are an essential part of life to keep us moving forward and growing. But what happens when the thing you want most doesn't succeed? I delve deep into the idea of 'life acceptance' and the understanding that not everything is meant for you. Some things are meant to let go, no matter how much we attach ourselves.

I LOVE what you're doing here sis. I think when muslims and nonmuslims talk about Islam, generally, it's about the laws, do's-and-don'ts, how 'restricting' it is but we rarely talk about how liberating Islam is. It gives us a lens through which to view this world. A way to interpret what we experience. And I think that's so important in building a healthy mind/mindsets (like how when you see someone and you understand that that is their rizq). As a Muslim, I feel like you could never lose. There's always good behind everything that happens to us. Things are often tough, yes, and yet, He won't test you more than you can bear. Like how can you argue with that? Keep doing what you're doing Farah, rooting for you :)

The best thing about this was when you said "we should not attach ourselves to our goals". A few months back I was working on some of my goals (build a legal support system for domestic violence victims coz I was one of them) But while doing that some people started to play dirty politics and tried to remove me from this path coz its perks were - position and larger public visibility. I felt like a failure coz I couldn't achieve my goal. This was the first time I tried to move on with my life and prove that I've still got it. But when it ended up that way I just shattered. I'm still caving and avoiding people but this sentence of yours made me see things in a diff way. I'm not my goal. I'm me, I'm breathing and doing well SubhanAllah. Yes I tried but I will only get what my destiny is. And also I learnt that i should not care about what people think about me when they see me as a "failure" just coz I'm not running after my work and success just like them. Coz I'm not JUST my profession. I'm me, Im my whole person. Thank you Farah❤

Adila. You are not a failure. This what has been in my mind for past weeks too. And alhamdulillah Allah guide me (and you) to listen to what we should need to hear at the moment. @linaishak4554 jazakillah khairan kaseera for these kind words Lina. Glad to know you watch these videos and follow Farah too. Your comment was a very pleasant and heart touching surprise. Thank you so much once again for the positivity. I agree we are definitely not a failure and even more so, you are not at all a failure. You inspire me a lot the more I speak to you each time. It's not easy to take care of another human you don't even know and try to save their life with all that you can the Will of Allah. And to be humble enough to use the rest of the time in getting closer to Allah, that is very beautiful.❤️ I hope someday we fulfill all our dreams that we wish we could live sooner in sha Allah..there's so much to change in the world and there's a lot of saving to do. But first, there's the saving we need to do of our own selves from the scars others may have given that shape the way we think ourselves. We are definitely nit how people made us to feel in our worst of times, we are much more worthy than what our heart refuses to believe. May Allah use us to serve people and influence them in better ways too. Aameen

I’ve had so many experiences of things I want to go a certain way, ended up not going the way I wanted. Most of them involved my career and during the time, so many tears were shed because of “only ifs”. Only if I stayed for a bit longer, only if I didn’t put too much trust in a human. A common denominator in all this is I always put my trust in Allah, pray istikharah when I need to make a decision, pray Solat Hajat if I want something. There are decisions I made where I know it’s guided by Allah because I’d always pray “Oh Allah, if this is the right decision for me, then lead my heart to it, guide me, and close my heart towards the other option”. Often times, I personally am shocked that I made that decision but I put full trust and faith because I know it’s what’s best for me. Months later, I feel minor regrets, tears were shed but I still put my trust in Allah. Only a year after I made the decision, I see why Allah has guided me to make that decision, and it’s often for something better than what we could ever imagine, what we could ever work for. If you’re in a position where you’re wondering why Allah has led you to a certain way, I pray that you’ll soon get to understand the reason behind, and may Allah give you patience and acceptance to all of His Qada’. Amin

15:30 I actually find peace in the concept of destiny. For example, when a person believes all their destiny is within their hands, failure is going to hit hard. Because it’s all your fault it was all your responsibility unlike if you believe in destiny, I feel like you will do your best in order to be at the right place at the right time but if you say you are you don’t get what you were waiting for it’s OK you got it just wasn’t meant to happen in that moment. I don’t know how to word this out. I don’t know if it makes sense but yeah.😅

I love how you highlight that people tend to attcach themselves with their goals because of the whole hustle culture thing. And it's true, I'm so blinded by it that it left me heartbroken when I don't achieve my goals. I am well aware of this as a muslim that we shouldn't be too attached by worldly goals but you bringing it up make it so convincing and sort of comforting to hear for me. That I shouldn't doubt myself. Keep going sister, thank you for the enlightenment.

This video came to me in a dire time of need Alhamdulillah. We think it's us, it's our plans, our hard work, everything that is to be done is to be done by us, and in the chase we forget the true essence of everything. How things work. How no matter what we do even if we take the wrong decision but have total faith and dependency on Allah swt we will always be guided. I think it was so important for me to realise the concept of rizq. Nothing that we get is due to US, it's due to Allah, and him alone. Putting faith in your capability is nothing because your capability is not because of YOU, it's him whose given it to you. So if you put your faith in Allah swt, he will give it in you to do whatever you think you can or cannot do. Relying on yourself comes with so many thoughts, can I do this, am I good enough, i can't do this etc etc but relying on Allah swt with full faith will make your questions go away. Yes, you are not capable of doing ANYTHING by yourself but everything is possible for Allah swt. So ask him, and believe in his capability only. There is so much of relief, comfort in the thought that if Allah wills it for you, it can happen. We have no power except what is given by Allah swt. Anything that we get or don't get is to be attributed to Allah's command and not to us. You work hard and get something doesn't mean you had the power to make it happen. Allah swt made it happen for you, even if some people fail to acknowledge it. They think it's because if their capability forgetting who gave it to them in the first place. We are nothing without Allah swt. May Allah swt forgive and guide us all Ameen. 14:02 14:50 15:07

I have tried a numerous amount of times to get into/finish my medical degree and I keep running into obstacles. I have been trying to figure out every which way and trying to also tell myself it's just not meant to be, and this video is really helping me come to terms with my future. I will happily look into business as it has always been an interest of mine, just never something I considered as a career. Thank you for this beautiful thought Farah, may Allah swt bless you for this act of kindness!

Thanks for sharing these advices. I'm practising my artistic skills rather casually on my own and still haven't made it to my goal cuz I've just given up trying my best at this point. But I've never considered working hard on learning my deen. Maybe that's what I first need to focus on.

Have mighty, great expectations of The creator of the heavens and earth like He deserves to be.. complete trust in the one with vast knowledge, what you want could be like a needle,A needle in the ocean , and Allah may be trying to give you even more than that , so you never have loses nor rejections you're simply just being redirected to something even better, greater as long as you are patient and working hard. As Allah stated in the quran "It could be that you dislike something, when it is good for you; and it could be that you like something when it is bad for you. Allah knows, and you do not know."

I'm not a muslim but i found this video touching and your words wise. I beat my self up a lot for not fitting in with certain groups of people in my university. They are people i like (without really knowing them tho) but i can't blend in. This is my sign to stop trying so hard and show some respect and love to myself

This video was recommended to me and I honestly felt the title, something told me that there's something good in the video and that gut's feeling wasn't wrong. The part that I liked the most was when you recommended that book, the topic is so interesting to me and I'm so excited to start reading it. Your sense of humor tells me you're Egyptian or at least born to an Egyptian parent, I hope I'm not wrong 😅😂

thanks for this video, it was full of valuable things to think about) at the moment you said about not attaching yourself to your goals i've remembered one comment that had stuck in my head "our goals should be just set to provide a direction you want to go". i guess it means expiriencing, not achieving, simply have understanding about what is matter for you, what do you want and stick to it
