I had the privilege of knowing the Stockers. The youngest, Madeline, was a friend of my daughters, and Makenzie, a friend my nieces at the Stocker kid's school..Lutheran South Academy. Kenzie was a treasure, and her passing was a tragedy that touched so many that her funeral attendees overflowed our church...and it is a large church. The pain in this song brings her death back home all these years later...and I can hear Nathan's pain still. It's a beautiful song. There's big things coming for Hippo Campus.

The band explain: "'Monsoon' deals with the death of a family member and the surprising lack of devastating grief. There was joy in the life that had been lived, instead of regret for what could’ve been. The monsoon itself became a metaphor for not experiencing that familiar and widely expressed "it should've been me” feeling, and trying to tackle that conflicting guilt. The guilt of not feeling guilty. Re-creating that world to exist in this song was a therapeutic and rewarding process."

I listened to this with headphones late at night with the lights off and i dont think ive ever had more of an emotional reaction to a song in my life. I physically felt the part where the beat picks up just before 'chin held shut' in my heart. This song didnt just give me goosebumps or tingles, i was literally shaking and silent tears were pouring out my eyes. Thank you so much for this absolute blessing

I want to have the opportunity to talk to them one day after a show, because their music is something I have never experienced. Their music goes beyond my ears, it isn't a quick pleasurable top 40 song, it fucking reaches my soul and it stays there. When I hear them live, I am completely lost in them. The fact that they are able to reach me in that way is absolutely magical.
@deadsetondreams19883 жыл бұрын
They are amazing as human beings, I had the pleasure of getting VIP and even though I was so darn nervous to talk to them what little was said will be treasured forever. I ran into Jake before the show on his way into the venue and they are all amazing, kind, and fun loving as they seem in videos on here. Literally the best concert I've ever attended easily and I've been to a bunch. I brought a giant group of friends with me who had all NEVER heard of them before and they all LOVED IT so much that they wanted to travel to see them perform in different locations. This band has my heart

one of the first times i heard this was when i was walking around school a few days after my cat went missing. i was basically failing every class, i had basically no friends, and i was on my way to fail a math test. i had my recommended music playing on amazon music as I was walking and this song came on. when it got to 1:00, i almost immediately burst into tears in the hallway! i turned around and ran to the school psychiatrist (she didn't really help lol). this song does an incredible job of capturing the emotion and buildup of sadness and grief and depression. and good memories mixed in with it

I sat on an important staircase outside of an important place to me on this summer day, with a summer storm thundering around me. I cried. Yesterday, I saw them live. They will never know all of the lonely days and difficulties that their music has gotten me through. The fact that this music helps me to make sense of my own pain is the mark to true art to me. I love them so much. Also, does anyone happen to know what that little distorted voice recording throughout the song is?
