They were both pretty clear about their preference for Romaine lettuce in the first video, but I, too, thought, they tended to go to the first or nearest food in this video. That's why I suggested more testing. But in the grand scheme of things it really is not terribly important, just fun and curious. Both Mama and Fiona are just charming, adorable characters, and their caretakers are great.

I agree, jenna was with fiona from her first night and seems really attached to her. She has a great personality and obvious affection for her hippo charge its fun to watch her interact with both mom and baby

You might want to run each test pair 10 times in a row with the foods put in alternating positions and further from a wall or door. Both Fiona and Beebe went first to the food nearest the wall 4 times out of 5. Not that it's really important, but a larger test might give different results.

I'm only 23 seconds in, but I was falling asleep last night (after having watched Part 1 of this yesterday) and I suddenly kept wondering what their vision is like. I would guess it's somewhat poor since they live in (probably) muddy rivers in nature. I have an aquatic turtle that would live in a freshwater pond in nature and her vision is not the most keen. However, I really have no idea scientifically how their vision is or if they see outside of the wavelength range in which humans are confined. OK onto Fiona and Bibi!!!! Thank you so much for a sequel!!!!💗🎈🎁💗

She is so blessed to be able to interact with the hippos. I am so jealous. They know they are being well cared for and thus aren't any danger to their caretakers. Would just love to rub Bibi on the nose like that.

Parsnip Mcgee When Fiona was really small & needed all the hands on care her keepers would go in with her. Now that she’s older & healthy they only interact with her & Bibi through protective contact, there’s always a barrier between them. And even though she’d probably never hurt them intentionally, Fiona is about a thousand pounds & is small for a hippo for her age, she is still a dangerous animal; she really does have an amazing relationship with Jenna & the rest of her care team & that makes me smile they did an awesome job with her.

Each of the hippo's ate whatever was NEAREST THE WALL FIRST!! Each of the tests should have been repeated a second time wih the SAME CHOICES only REVERSE the positioning to get a more accurate result.

If life ever brings me unavoidably close to a hippo living area I will have plums and bananas with me as decoys to increase my chances of survival. I really love hippos 😭 I'd rather let em turn me into mince meat than shoot one. The way they take no shit from humans they don't know and trust just makes them better. Oh but the way you get to interact with them if you know them since they were little, what an amazing opportunity to be friends with a sweet, adorable tank that sends adult lions running for their lives.
