@RCHobbyShed9 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! I was never a fan of the tape but since using it for a while now I'm finding it quite good. I'm not sure I'd use it on a car that gets run a lot though as it can pull up quite easily. I was in two minds with the Renoma lettering, if to just print a sticker or do a stencil. I figured being so big I'd prefer it to be painted so I went with the stencil, I could have been neater with the outline though. 😬👍

G'day mate!! 🙋♀️😃 Dead set that long term build paid off mate, perfection as usual🏆. Home made sticker and all, we're absolutely blown away👌. Even working out the order of what colour goes on 1st would have stumped us. We reckon the roof sticker must be so close to box art, nice work on designing it Mick!!, it looks spot on. You should be really pleased with your efforts mate. Thanks very much for sharing how you did it too👍. Ingrid was liking the pale blue on the bonnet too then the blue mask came off😳 lol, the colours are nice. Looking forward to seeing your Rock'n City resto!!, we hope the Peroxide doesn't munch up the decals😬. Thanks for showing your video Mick, Definitely a top shelf build👍🏆🦘🇦🇺
@RCHobbyShed9 ай бұрын
G'day mate! 👋 Thanks mate. The order of colours is pretty easy, usually go from darkest to lightest. But in this case where I stuffed up and took the masking off the bonnet first, I had to go white well before I should have. Think I had a senior moment there for a minute 😂 Haha, the blue film often makes them look good. There's been a few bodies where I think I should have left the film on. 😂 I'm keeping my eye out for the Rock'n City windows. I can make some pretty easily but I'd rather have the original windows. Hopefully it won't be too many more years! 😁 Yeah, the peroxide is likely to make everything white, decals and all but we'll see. 🤞 Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂👍
@outbackrcaustralia48959 ай бұрын
@@RCHobbyShed If the colour order got you then imagine what we would have done lol. Hopefully there's a set of Rock'n City windows out there waiting for you mate👍. Good luck with the Peroxide on the body you never know.

@@outbackrcaustralia4895 Nah you'd be right mate. I kinda rush into taking the masking off, didn't think about what I was doing. I saw a couple of full body sets on eBay last night. $800+ and $1000+ 😲. Now I only need the window, so does that mean $300 odd? 😂 We'll see maybe I'll find one, maybe I'll make it... Remains to be seen. Yeah, that peroxide can go either way. I'm not too fussed if it ruins the decals, just would be nice if it didn't. 👍

@@RCHobbyShed Big money for a body set 😳, look how rare they are I guess. There's hardly anything from what I've seen. You'll have no trouble making windows lol, nothing's stopped you yet mate👍

@@outbackrcaustralia4895 Yeah, I reckon they'll be keeping those body sets! 😂 The window is only polycarb, so I'll prolly make a mould and hit it. 🙂👍
@YoShImUrA539 ай бұрын
Peroxide usually doesn't attack stickers in my experience, so go for it and bring that body back to shiny white light, Mick! Great job on the shell. For the renoma black bit of the lettering you could do a two step layers of masking or inner stickers next time. It´ll be tricky to line both white and black layers up, but you can use a small pair of "squares" outside, a bit away from the lettering to use as a reference (one perfectly on top of each other, so you know they´re lined up when laying it down), and should come out pretty good!
@RCHobbyShed9 ай бұрын
Good to know! I've only ever used it on parts without stickers on them, so this is great news. Thanks mate. I actually thought of doing a two part stencil for he Renoma lettering. I have a vinyl cutter, which is what I used for this stencil but I really just got lazy and couldn't be bothered weeding out the second layer of the lettering 😂. I actually thought going around the inside of the lettering with the black paint pen would go smoothly but noooo! Running the pen around on the edge of the paint is trickier than it seems as the pen wants to grip hard on the paint but the unpainted Polycarbonate is super slippery. I think when I paint my new original body I'll go with the two part stencil. Cheers mate! 🙂👍
@YoShImUrA539 ай бұрын
@@RCHobbyShed good thing you had a "test run" with the non original body to learn, then! As you can cut vinyl, maybe best if you just cut black and white and simply stick them from underneath and then paint on top of them the red with the same technique I described. That way you won't have any paint bleeding issues, and the lettering would look absolutely sharp. 🤟🏻

G'day Mads! Thanks mate! I never really knew much about them back then either, just that I saw them in the shop and wanted one. The early 44B's didn't seem to get much attention in magazines and stuff, but the later Zerda did. Then of course the Alien Mid that everyone seems to know. Thanks mate, yeah it did take a lot to get it this way but I think it was worth it. Now if I run it I need to very VERY careful 😬. I'd love to do the Rock'n City right now but I don't have the windows and can't see any for sale. So that might take a while. Maybe I'll go over the chassis and get that done at least. I think a lot of people weren't familiar with Hirobo because they didn't really have a huge lineup of cars like other brands had. They were more known in the late 80's with the Zerda and Alien Mid buggies but are no longer making RC cars. Their main thing now is RC Helicopters.
