初めて知ったけど、ちょっとアルバム買ってくる。上原ひろみの曲はいつもパワフルで新しくて刺激的だけど、クインテットという事でどこかクラシカル。この対比というかバランスというか…いつもピアノソロのアルバムしか買ってなかったけど、これは好みどストライク。

This whole album is amazing. Silver Lining four movements are up there with Mingus, McCoy Tyner when it comes to using sting arrangements, Do I here Samuel Barber, How about Debussy? Maybe her best Album yet. she never ceases to amazing !!! Great quartet as well.

I am into Hiromi Uehara again after watching her Tokyo Olympic ceremony performance and Fuji Rock Festival performance. Today she was on TV and came here to check this out. Glad I did. Beautiful.

I get that this isn't her album Spectrum, but I've always thought that color in music was just a pretentious, made-up aspect that composers and geniuses used to simplify music into terms that we laymans could understand. Now, because of Hiromi's Spectrum album, I've dared to associate this entire album with different shades of purple (this song is a reddish, maroon-purple to me, a bit decadent and fancy), not because I understand it, but because I want to see further into this poetic world that she's created in every song. Maybe musical color isn't a tool for pretentious genius musicians, but actually, it could be an entrance into understanding the world of music as a whole. I'm probably reading too far into it :)

Personally I visualize music as moves. Move your finger or hand based on the music you are hearing. Represent it like some line that goes up and down, does a flip or twist. If you find that there is almost no big variations in your movement or that it feels like the music isn’t solid enough for you to visualize it, it means it’s bland 😂 it’s not so great a composition I find it easier to feel music by visualizing movement rather than colors. Because colors are static. They need movement to be expressive, imo This music might feel difficult to represent by movement because of how versatile and fast it is. The thing is not to focus on one instrument only. So well this is personally my musical move theory (?). I’m not much into the musical color one 😅
