Hey this is random but I just wanted to say that your intro is really well done. Thermal is a good name for a channel too. The intro is nice and sharp, not overdone and snappy. I have watched several of your videos now after the algorithm showed it to me, and it's strange because I don't play Starcraft and haven't watched a lot of it. Your calm is one of the most appealing parts of this channel for me, alongside the absolutely grandmaster level-play ofc. Even when you're frustrated or communicating ideas similar to what other Hardcore Gamer Streamer Boys would be, it's a world of difference between "He's beating me because he made a bunch of unexpected moves, which doesn't necessarily mean they were good moves, but he had some things going for him" and, say, "I LOST BECAUSE HE WAS SO BAD, CHAT WHAT'S HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT, APES JUST FLIPPING COINS AND FUCKING CHEESING ALL THE TIME". There's a place for both styles in this world, and I prefer this one for my blood pressure.

I'd like to propose the "Wide Base" Challenge. In this challenge, you're limited to building only one building of each kind (not counting depots, bunkers, or turrets) per command center you have, and the additional buildings have to be build around additional command centers. So you can, for example, build one Barracks, Factory, Starport, Ghost Academy, Engineering Bay, and what-not in your main. You cannot build more of each until you expand to your natural. After expaning to your natural, you can build a second one of all of those buildings, but they have to be made IN the natural, not in the main.

For Science to GM: your next military building after the first barracks must be an EB, your next military building after the first factory must be an armory, your next military building after the first starport must be a fusion core, all add-ons must be tech labs, and no research building may idle until you have everything it can get.

This is either undoable at the upper levels in too many games or surprisingly good in more situations than I’d think. Not really sure, but either way would be interesting! It’d be like he was setting up a self sufficient colony that advanced it self a la the civilization games. Civ challenge!

Maybe try doing a random challenge where you let chance pick your build. For instance, pick six builds -- e.g. 1) all ghosts, 2) ravens and helions, 3) penguin brothers, 4) bongcloud, 5) proxy racks, and 6) BC rush. Then roll a 6-sided die before every match, and whichever number comes up, that's the build you do. This will add the excitement of variety and randomness. And let's see how far up the ladder you can get.

How about weird upgrades to GM? Rush out medivac boost, banshee speed, lib range, blue flame, or drilling claws. Would allow a lot of variety with options of what less common upgrades you want to build around.

That seems like it would kind of just be too easy - I mean, even if the upgrade does literally nothing, it's not like him being down 100-200 minerals and gas in the mid-game is going to be enough of a handicap for it to challenge him.

Sometimes I play the game just against the computer and I really like to make a lot of Banshee with speed and i don't know why starcraft player don't use them. Now i'm hyped for the cyclone mine series. p.s. Beasty did raven mine before, it's pretty much an even more meme version of raven hellion. I'd say you should do a few other series before going back into raven, since that and raven hellion are both mostly reliant on the same autoturret to kill stuff. p.p.s. banshee thor mine might be a good idea; it's not exactly helpless defending early stuff, can harrass pretty well, and makes a passably good army comp in the lategame. And the thor-in-a-medivac bait potential will make for wonderful mine shots.

I think the coolest challenge ever would be --- you make a wheel like wheel of fortune and put 8-10 goofy Strats on the wheel. Before you play every time, you take a spin of the wheel and let fate decide. It would also be really cool if you had 'play like clem' or 'play like Maru' on the wheel, insinuating relentless aggression or turtling until the resources are gone, and all the other things that go with their persona's (or anyone else). If you roll 'ghost only' against a terran you'll feel dread and the loss of MMR but you never know when your opponent is going to marauder rush ;).

There is a cheese with terran you only get 1 gas with. You rally the first 2 scvs you build out onto the map, then at 14 supply build the gas. Get 1 more scv and build a rax at home at 15 supply, after that proxy 2 rax on the map. Make 1 reaper at home, and rally marines after that. With the 2 proxy rax get 2 tech labs, make marauders and get marauder slow. Because you cut 1 scv to get the gas earlier, you get just enough gas to afford a reaper, 2 tech labs, marauder slow and continuous marauder production. If you get scouted it looks relatively normal because you have a gas and a rax at home. Its usually a free win vs protoss if you can catch the first stalker with the reaper grenade + marauder slow. Not great in TvT though.

Do stationery units only to gm. Only tanks, liberators, mines, auto turrets and planetary fortress. Or maybe only spell casters to gm. Only banshee, ghost, raven, cyclone, mines and battlecruiser yamato. I know its impossible to do all the units at once, so just pick the combination you think will make the most entertaining games. Thankyou for doing these series thermy, especially after beastyqt stopped doing them.

Dunno how viable it is (probly not at all) but Harstem did a fun episode where he had to always deny upgrades. It made for really fun setups of eventually unbalanced head to head engagements. Banshees could be a way to deny the upgrades since people don't usually defend those structures as much

@Uthermal THE REASON the reaper guy did a suboptimal build vs u!!! The reaper guy's goal was to win with faster reapers and to trick his opponent into thinking it was proxy maruders again hence the 1 gas no orbital. His build loses to proxy reapers, a person with skill and micro. But his build beats weaker micro ppl not prepared cuz the reapers come sooner alot sooner then a regular proxy 2/3 rax since he cut many scvs and an orbital and only got the 1 gas. He also hopes that the mind game might cause a double bunker marine fast tech follow up which would just die since the reapers will walk by the bunkers. It is a move for a weaker player who cant transition does as a 2nd match up. That comboed with the mind games can get him a win. The only reason y he floated that much minerals is cuz the game was suppose to end with his 2nd attack so doenst mater what his income was, cuz he either wins or loses at that point. Desperate players who need mmr but arent skilled enough to macro constantly do mind games like this to fake their opponent out in a 2nd match up. He knows u have to double gas with proxy reapers but chooses not to for the mind games.
