@@Sintarzus I guess potentially the end scene with the different worlds could change... this series is entirely set in Lyra's world, and that's the one we see in the centre. Maybe they could change it up by having the "main world" for each series being the central one? (eg. Cittagazze world for S2, world of the dead / mulefa world for S3?) Alternatively, these opening credits (after the segment showing Lyra alone) pull back through the mountains of the north, that could be changed out for the Cittagazze skyline for the next series?

the editing and graphics are so incredible.... the way the dust forms the aletheometer, then Lyra seems to be inside it (like a cog of a machine), then the way the parallel universes are meshing together, the staircase -they even teased Will! When I read the series at 11 I had no idea such a show would exist. This series is so important to me. I read it when I was really Lyra's age, so I lived that world, just as Lyra did. I am so glad I have the opportunity to experience it, as an adult, in the form of a series.

If the like-dislike ratio is this low, you should never worry about dislikes. KZbin is prowling with dislike bots, and some people just dislike because they might not be into the subject matter. The only time when dislikes actually show that people are hating it is when you see a significant grey bar. Like about 5% or more of the bar is gray. THEN it's a big issue. So yeah, don't worry about the dislikes ^.^

OK, let's talk lyrics! This is what I got from the bbc captions: Susurros immortales audiunt Haruspices incipit parvuli Incipite parvuli Procedant menses magni Incipite, incipite... And this is my take on a translation: The soothsayers hear immortal whispers: Begin, children! Begin, children! Great months shall come. Begin, begin. Edit: Seems to be based on virgils ecloga iv, which has been interpreted as a heathen prophecy of Christ. Can't remember if these verses were in Pullman's books, but given the (anti-)religious themes it's certainly fitting!

By The Authority, this was such a masterful intro. The literal best opening sequence for any show I have ever seen, in my opinion. did anyone notice, that the shot of all the parallel universes changed into thin lines, like lines made from the cut of a certain knife? and all those lines were divided across the screen with a black chasm in the middle? A chasm that looks deep enough for anything, or anyone to fall into, for eternity? A chasm that might be the birthplace of a huge number of certain malevolent creatures? This show is going to be incredible. Long live The Republic.
