Years ago, I did get burnt out and stopped for a little while and it was weird. Music is a part of my life. If I skip a day, it feels wrong somehow. Thanks for your comment.

I bot his Gospel book and the Christmas Standards first. This is one, perhaps initial, of the first ones I worked on, brought it up to performance level 2-3 years ago. It is a stong arrangement of a very tender classic; I loved it and love hearing it under your spell. I heard Ethel Waters sing it in Los Angeles, big outdoor venue, when I was about 17. She was in her 70's but looked older; voice was not as even as it had been but it mattered not because it's, as is all music, all about how one interprets it for self and then others. How the performer shares themselves in what they are doing, no matter what that is. That and to add, your cover here was appropriately reverent and imparting a firm confidence in the good. Not indulgent nor pinched and overbearing; but the in the best possible taste. You and Brent's arrangement show respect, without a hint of selfish or hidden agenda. Really lovely. Keep 'em coming. Thank you.

Thanks for your lovely comment, David! I love hearing your stories. The first book I bought of his was the Disney one. There are so many good volumes to choose from. I also bought the second Disney one. I love that performers continue with music making--many do it for all their life. And it is always magical to hear performers present interpretations that have been worked on and/or revisited. It's interesting to hear what they've kept the same and what they've changed.

@@elenafortinmusic For me, those interpretations are significant because they demonstrate how the performers are sharing their lives with others. I think that's where it's at. The specific ways they do that is indicative of who they are, not just what they can do. I want to know who people are; how they perform is a telling indicator of character traits.

@@DavidMiller-bp7et I love it! I ended up leaving percussion because of a disagreement with a teacher that wanted me to suspend my studies for one year and shut myself into a practice room and just practice technique for six hours a day. I think musicians are only worthwhile listening to when they've got something to say with their music and shutting myself into a practice box for one year would turn me into a robot. Live a little! lol.
