By season 2, they mean all the episodes after episode 25. Honestly the last episodes aren’t bad or anything, they just aren’t as good as the first 25. The first 25 are like a 10/10, while the last episodes are like a 7/10

I mean..the writer made him do it, It's accurate to his character and very well written, We can't choose on basses of right and wrong about what they should do because we aren't the writer, we are spectator.

You have to understand that Light's intention isn't just murder - "Because they're scared to die" that's a HUGE part of Light's plan. He doesn't intend to just keep murdering criminals forever he just wants to do it enough that people are aware of the consequences and just stop committing the crimes themselves. imo that's one of the most redeeming factors of Light's plan and makes it more palatable. Overall I agree with L's perspective more but Light has some very valid arguments.

Also his lines of "I will become the god of this knew world" and "People will know someone is passing righteous judgement on the wicked" are part of him saying this - even though delivered differently they aren't ego-based and rather Light stating his intention to dissuade people from committing crimes by creating fear of some "greater force". Japan has Capital punishment anyway which should be doing the same thing but so many people get off scott-free.

My biggest thing about Light "using bad people" was always that he got his victims from the news and online. So many ppl get profiled and falsely accused and he did not care to double check anyone ever. Killing all the people in cells or already on their way to them but none of the criminals walking around the streets that weren't on the police radar? I'd argue about this "good" he's doing.

We don’t know if he’s digging deep into their files. However because he has access to official police records he would only be killing off the criminal is pretty much verified. It’s not just the news he is seeing their names from. The two people he killed in the first episode were people who were in the action of serious crime.

Crime didn't cease to exist, that's a certain kind of wrongdoing he was attacking. My point is that there are many criminals and "bad people" that never see a cell who remained untouched

false accusations are so rare though, 99% of the criminals he killed were actually criminals. I mean, how else was he supposed to execute his plan? The most logical thing to do would be to kill prisoners, his ultimate goal wasn't killing, it was making people fear him enough not to commit crimes anymore and he did achieve that.

On the second half of the season personally I think it’s very enjoyable to watch. It shows almost a new more desperate perspective on light and brings a satisfying conclusion to the whole series

Season 2 is very satisfying, especially the ending. I understand why people might not like it as much as the first, but you have to finish it honestly. Season 1's ending is not ideal to leave it at that.

When I first watched death note I was unaware that the second half was disliked by many so it didn’t make me lower my expectations. All in all I think the first half is actually better, but the second half is still really good! First half i’d give a 10/10 while second half probably an 7.5 or 8/10
