So good. I love how the audience gets gradually more depressed looking.

This is the exact opposite of the show I saw them at, it was a warehouse in the mission sf. Crusties, dogs, stolen kegs with no tap. People were trying to open the kegs with screwdrivers, continually spray the place with beer. It was a hot sticky drunk mess. I loved it.

Definitely a great year, although 1998 was pretty killer too, with Assuck playing in a front yard off of High Street while the cop chopper hovered overhead.

Dane Gifford that’s awesome. I’m actually moving to Victoria from Toronto in the fall. Do you know if they still have an active punk-hardcore scene?
@danegifford96964 жыл бұрын
Gabe B. There’s a band called Iskra that is still active as far as I know and another called sixbrewbantha who I think also still play. There was a venue called culture club but I’m not sure if it’s still going, there’s also a punk record shop called supreme echo. The scene in Victoria has always been highly dependant on local bands and has collapsed in the past without enough of them because getting touring bands to their island is crazy expensive.
@gabeb.37334 жыл бұрын
Dane Gifford I really appreciate the info dude. I’m a very avid show attendee and playing in a band is my main hobby so I’m really hoping there’s a scene to amerce myself in. I take it Vancouver probably is the hub for punk/metal in BC

I get that HHIG and other bands were anti "aggressive dancing" and I get it and all. But fuck me man. Why is it always the band's in this scene that play the most brutal, fastest, adrenaline pumping type of music that are always like "ok guys, be considerate of one another, no pits please". Like bro, here in Los Angeles, especially in the backyards and other illegal spots, shit got fuckin scary sometimes. But you always got helped up if you went down. Yeah, we had pur fair share of idiots starting fights as well as the opposite, with bands being against moving around, especially with club shows and even worse with bar gigs. I dont know, I always just got irritated when I would see everyone with their arms crossed and slightly nodding their heads. I remember never getting to see Destroy or Disrupt, but they were some of my favorite bands and years later was actually able to see live recordings thinking it would be going crazy and you got Destroy playing in a basement with people just standing completely still. Same with Disrupt when they released that DVD. It was fuckin depressing... I loved Crust and Grind and held the like minded beliefs but man, what a shit scene.
