The one thing I will always say about it is that the original doesn't have the greatest tone for the lyrics. It sounds a little too upbeat and almost cheery compared to how David Draiman performs it, which has a darker, punchier tone.

I’m 64 and I can remember hearing it back then. The cinematography in this video is absolutely gorgeous. It combines a perfect use of the Zone Technique and the lighting commonly used in film noir. When the singer is looking straight into the camera, he looks right through you. I don’t have the words to describe how everything comes together in this video. Genius seems to be a gross understatement.

Anger that the warning was unheeded? How odd for a metal band!! :P It's not just about the separation, it's also about the failure and corruption in society, and when speaking the truth marks you as "the crazy one". Disturbed has a song called A Reason to Fight. It is a very emotional song that shows just how human David Draiman is. He wrote A Reason to Fight while thinking about all of his friends he has lost to depression and addiction over the years. If you do A Reason to Fight please do the official live video because it helps really show just how much Disturbed is helping other people through their music.

Yes, they normalize mental healthcare and ask for a show of hands to illustrate that every one in the audience has or knows someone who has had depression or addiction. It is very moving to see. Then they have phone numbers up on banners for the local mental health hotlines. God bless Disturbed.🖤

I've always deeply felt the lyrics of this song. Everybody has a story to tell. Everybody has talent and vision to share, but if we don't communicate, if we ignore the messengers, or distrust the messages, if we stop listening to each other and depend on others to tell us who it's ok to like, who we should hate, what matters to us most, leaving the truth drowned out by the distracting chaos; if we further divide ourselves from each other, if we stop listening, stop trusting and caring about each other, stop sharing our 'songs' the silence left behind will be deafening. This version itself is a testament to the wonders humans can create when they bring their individual , uniquely amazing souls together to make a masterpiece!

Paul Simon is a genius. When S & G sang the original, it was in the era of 'folk music' and they sang it that way. It seemed like just another pretty little folk song that nobody could understand, but was danceable. It wasn't until Disturbed's take on genius Simon's words, that the meaning became horrifyingly clear what we were doing to each other, and the world around us. Silence like a cancer grows! Peace ❤
