Alexa L. Actually, he might not have. Because Rose got off, they both went to the Grand Staircase to met up, and then the rest of the story played out until the whole wreckage scene. If Rose had stayed on, Jack wouldn't really have had a reason to go to the staircase and therefore wouldn't have found the wreckage. So he might not have made it.

*Rewatching this movie, we really realize that Jack (Leo DiCaprio), could have survived if Rose (Kate Winslet), had stayed on the lifeboat. Jack was smart, he could find a way out of this situation, without having to worry about Rose, he could have used the door that floated, for example. The door would be for him alone. And then they could have met again, the movie's villain (Rose's suitor), almost found her, maybe it wasn't so hard for Jack and Rose to find each other too. Not true. Jack may not have found that board if it hadn't been for Rose. He was in the water looking for her, and together they found the board. He might have been somewhere else entirely had she not been there and not found the board at all - ripple effect and all. Also, he probably would have died anyway even if he had something to float on. Rose was wearing a leather jacket and a life jacket, not to mention that being a woman helped in her case because females store more fat around their vital organs to keep them warm. Jack would have had none of these things going for him, so even if he had found something to float on on his own, he likely would have died anyway.

There is literally no possible way Jack would have survived. The amount of energy he was exerting the entire night, the little amount of insulation he had on.
