Sonny, You are so patient and good to learn from. Dad tought You very well! Is this for ponds which I have 3 of and can not wait till warm weather comes in Australia. I could get lost in a Hardware store too but now I know better but am 80y old and still enjoy this hobby and it keeps me going and to stay home is fine. Richard

yep i have a great dad and watched very intently. I truly appreciate the comments. This filter i used bio blocks for the interior and charcoal bags for the tall center box and then the pump on the bottom. I only had one issue with this design and that was regulating the ball valves to maintain the flow rate so the bucket didn't develop back pressure and water come out around the cord hole. other than that this design ran for months without needing to clean it. i am planing on doing this one again but making it shorter. this was one of my first DIY videos.

Please let us see how this worked. Please show us inside of bucket and placement of pump and filter material

Would high advise that you solder and heat shrink your wires with marine grade heat shrink (Harbor Freight). Not only does it leave a much cleaner connection, but much safer as well.
@LowTechTank8 жыл бұрын
thank you for that very good advice. i have changed the connection and will be making a new video.

great video im going to go make one but one suggestion why on earth did you splice the plug back on when you could of bought a cord cap for less the 2 bucks and your funny drill bit is a uni bit
@LowTechTank9 жыл бұрын
William Craig Have fun. It works really well. i did that because the cord caps i found where for the two wire kind and this one has three. I make electric lights so i just used the skills i have. thanks for the drill name

Where did u run off with such a large wire
@LowTechTank8 жыл бұрын
to the plug :) it is a very powerful pump and needed a larger wire
@apauln5 жыл бұрын
Fyi. Those are channel locks, not pipe wrench, and the other is an adjustable wrench not a monkey wrench. Monkey wrench and a pipe wrench is the same wrench and is not one of these.
@djguddu19818 жыл бұрын
U would have used a another plug... Instead of giving a joint to the wire.... Much stable connection.... Less risk

@c.t.21528 жыл бұрын
Since most USE electrical Bulk head fittings in Aquaponics it is a bit ODD to see a guy cut a cord when he must have a connector you can use without cutting the cord.
@tinyp18925 жыл бұрын
That one is called a cresent wrench not a momkey wrench
@LowTechTank5 жыл бұрын
thank you so much for that correction :) I thought it was but I have dyslexia and if given two options I will aways pick the wrong one.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. hit up your hardware store and spend two bucks on heat shrink tubing or a new plug. either way you go it'2 only a few bucks and it's safer and better looking. I think if you show the guy at the hardware store what you just did and tell him you have kids he'd probably give it to you for free.
@LowTechTank6 жыл бұрын
replaced it with a water tight box. all good. thank you for that suggestion.
