(The Allies occupied Germany in 1945) Annexation= X country/territory becomes part of Y country. X country ceases to exist, the government, military, police dissolves or flees, the country itself is removed from the World map. Y country's rules and laws are applied to the annexed territories. It can be peaceful (Anschluss) or aggressive (Invasion of Poland). Occupation doesn't necessary means annexation, but if a country wants to annex another country, it has to occupy that country first.
