They are the ones who created this style back in late 1980s. Bands like Riggor Mortis, Soilent Green, Acid Bath, Crow bar, eyehategod, early Down evolved it. If you're curious of riggor mortis, it's the first band Mike Scaccia and Al Jorgensen formed before Ministry.
@daleweber25798 жыл бұрын
Sleepy3810 Do you mean Leach? Never heard of them but pretty sure they heard of mike scaccia which along with Melvins created distinct heavy guitar sound especially the heavy picking which Mike is known for. Like the saying goes respect your elders they did it first.

It'd be fair to say Flipper and the sludgier Black Flag songs influenced the Melvins, too. The "My War" record was huge in Seattle-area punk for sure at that time.

Hate to admit it but I 've been kinda outa the Melvins loop for a while. Got into them when they released "houdini" and just checked in occassionally. Started listening again when they did the Jello Biafra "sieg howdy" album. When did they get the 2nd drummer and who's on bass?...and when did they start wearing moo moo's? If anyone can bring me up to speed and let me in on any worthwhile tracks or albums they've released it would be appreciated. Buzz and Dale are on the top of their game.
