Tsk, you were a whole century off, my boy. (Well, sort of. He was born in the 1400s, at least. Just say you were thinking of his dad. That'll cover for it well enough. 😉 It's just a difference between a 7 and an 8. And dude, if you found him boring in your classes, your teachers weren't teaching about him right.

You werent far off. Tudor reign did start in the 1400s. Henry VIII was in the 1500s though lol.

@@ms_scribbles I know, right? I didn't get to learn half this stuff in school. Which sucks because apparently my family on my mom's side are distantly related to his second wife "Anne Boleyn". Didn't find out until we were watching "The other Boleyn girl" and my mom casually mentioned it. XD

Fun fact: it Prince Harry ever became king (he won’t but let’s pretend) he’d officially be crowned as King Henry the 9th, the first Henry to be king since Henry the 8th.

I don't know much about British royal family, but why? Can't the king choose what name he would go by? Or is it determined by something? What name will Prince George have once he becomes the king?

While it's unclear and probably unlikely that Catherine of Aragon led the army into actual battle it is true that she was the one who organized the army to repulse the Scottish invasion because she was the regent when Henry was away in France.
@Fordo007
@Fordo007 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah in terms of her actually commanding the troopers, very unlikely. But she would've operated as a supreme commander in the macro sense of organizing the army and delegating the tactical commands. I'd say she lead an army the same way the President is Commander in Chief.

If I remember correctly The Song of Ice and Fire (game of thrones) is inspired by the war of the roses.

It was Catherine's contention during the divorce that she had not consummated the marriage, while Henry gathered witnesses who said Arthur had bragged about their wedding night. (Or, at least, people Henry told to say that Arthur bragged about it. We'll never know. Arthur was too dead to refute it.) And yeah, it's a good detail on the sword, except for one thing... with the exception of Anne Boleyn, Henry's executioners didn't use a sword. They used an axe.
@Rhaenarys
@Rhaenarys 3 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I misread you, but Anne Boleyn was in fact the exception with the sword. He called a swordsman in who was delayed, causing Anne to seem to be going mad, constantly preparing herself for death each day. When he arrived, she walked out, gave alms, gave a speech, and the swordsman called for his sword so she would look away and her head was cut clean...and quick. She was the only given that exception, though.

Of all the things I would have thought was NOT a joke in this video, Henry’s obsession with his toned calves is not one of them.

Actually there is a misinformation about Anna of Cleves. She wasn't ugly but unfamiliar with certain traditions at English Court. Henry decided to disguise himself as a beggar and get to Anna and confessing his love to her (basically playing out his fantasies he read in a romantic story). Unfortunately Anna didn't know anything about these romantic stories because she was German and so she was understandably creeped out and disgusted by the beggar who tried to kiss her. This humiliation was too much for Henry and all his feelings for her died in that moment. When he revealed himself later, Anna fell on her knees and begged him for forgiveness. Although he accepted her apology, he wasn't really interested in her any longer and so they spent the wedding night playing cards in bed. Later, when Henry wanted to divorce her, she was very cooperative and Henry made it look like he was repulsed by her "ugliness" and naivety about sex so his reputation wouldn't be tarnished. Anna remained in his good favor and stayed in England as the king's adopted sister and became the most powerful woman right after the queen and princesses.

Can I just say, even thought this period is my particular specialty, I LOVE your honesty about finding this part of history boring. This is how I feel about WWII. Yes...I've learned about it, I learned the basic essentials, I know its important to history and dont disagree with that. But dang! It's so dang boring for me! I have tried watching documentaries about it...and I just cant. I honestly don't care about all the plane names and the names of ships and yea lol...so I just love your honesty and fully understand.

@@lisagaughan7154 i had a teacher whose main focus was putting those old black and white history channel documentaries on. I can't say I remember anything from that class. I learned more about WWII in middle school than I did in high school as the main focus was on the holocaust at that time. THAT was interesting, albeit horrifying.
