HISTORIC 1900 [Farmhouse Restoration] 👉🏻 (start to finish).Our home was in a bad state of disrepair; rotting wood, peeling paint, and continuing to go downhill as the years went by. We finally tackled the project, and restored our old 1900 Farmhouse into a beautiful preserved treasure.

What a lovely home you are making. Your brother-in-law did a wonderful job of making your porch look amazing with the new concrete and stone work! I have a house similar in age (but much smaller!)and I have to admit getting the outside painted was probably the favourite thing I had done. It is a wonderful feeling to come up the drive and see my wee pretty cozy home.

Oh my, it’s beautiful! I love old homes and I love it even more when people restore them as opposed to completely redoing them. I really love it when people honor the original character of the home. No new build is ever as well built as an older home. We have posts and beams in our 1800’s farmhouse that are basically trees they cut to use in the house. We are currently finishing a renovation we started 15 years ago. Life and work kept us from finishing; but now it’s being completed. Sadly, we will be selling our home when it’s finished. It’s 2900 square feet , 2 stories and we just don’t need that much space anymore. With my husband’s medical condition, we don’t need to worry about him climbing on a ladder to fix the roof or paint. Hopefully we will find a rancher that has a low maintenance exterior so we no longer will have worries about upkeep outside. We will probably buy a home with 1,500-1,800 square feet. That will make it more manageable for me, because he’s no longer able to do any work on our home. I would love to find a nice property and buy a modular to put on it so we will have warranties on the home, the heating/air, and the appliances. The way homes are selling, I don’t want to get excited about a house and have it sold before we put in an offer. Plus we cannot buy anything that has projects!
