An historic first work train laying down ballast on the soon to be reinstated Napier to Gisborne line . . . .well as far as Wairoa at this stage. Seen here on the Estuary bridge in Ahuriri, Napier. The line has been closed for a number of years.

A great number of years! Our rellies taught at Otoko School near Gisborne, and it was sad to go exploring and come across The End of the Line! I didn't know about all this! Thanks for uploading, also that fantastic old diary of a fantail nest...how did you ever get that close?
