Sorry for the little amount of negativity. I love watching you and your channel. I am in South Africa but so passionate about climate and the might of our earth that I watch all of this every single day. Thank you for your hard work.

Flooding will become a major issue for communities along the St. Johns River. I lived in Sanford at the time Irma came over and caused major flooding near the Riverwalk area in downtown. That hurricane moved quick and dumped less rain than this one. So I can only imagine how that's going to pan out. Stay safe Mark, I'll be riding it out with you about 25 miles SW of Orlando in Winter Haven.

Love your channel and knowledgeable commentary . My youngest daughter is sick n Tampa Bay. I’m in Pensacola but lost everything in 2018 to Hurricane Micheal. I was in Port St. Joe next to Mexico Beach. This is a massive beast of a storm. Thinking of my fellow Floridians down south.

Didn't they say the shear would weaken it just prior to landfall
@HurricaneJD2 жыл бұрын
That was when the path of the storm was going to go more north ....as of today that path has shifted more and more South so it has less time to weaken by wind shear before landfall. Not to say that wind shear still won't weaken it AFTER landfall.

Do you think the surge will compare to Katrina’s in Mississippi?

cat 5 needs to start at 150... not 157.... hurricanes often peak at 155.... or 150.... its basically doing cat 5 destruction anyway..

Despite decades of interest, was only a couple of years ago that I saw my first ever hurricane storm surge video, you usually see before flood after flood sure, but (yourself excluded) weather folks often don't seem to emphasize how FAST that water can SURGE inland. I swear the vid I saw it was doing 30 to 40mph. i.e. not the type of thing you can outrun. Was quite shocking and surprising to me.

P.s. Something Ive meant to ask many times but always forget, when you see a rain map, and it forecasts X inches. Is that per hour or per day or per something else? I understand it is biblical rains, just wondering what the specifics are. Many thanks to any who answer. :)
@kennycarter56822 жыл бұрын
@@Nine-Signs it is total rainfall. you look at the type of map. qpf is for a time frame. a total rainfall possible over a set time. pay attention to it.

Mark shouldn't have to explain why he's not sitting in a hurricane like some of these idiots would be.... never ever sit in a hurricane.... You're playing Russian roulette with your life by doing so. And you might also be risking other people's lives that have to come and rescue you in a situation. And as a matter of fact we should do our part by not enabling people to want to sit in hurricanes to get coverage

When we talk about land interaction we have to remember that Florida is actually technically the flattest state in the United States ...not Kansas or Oklahoma but Florida is the flattest state in the US. There are hardly any big hills it's very flat . If a hurricane were to maintain its intensity over any land it would probably be florida's
