Thank you for sharing a tour of this beautiful home and gardens. It is so peaceful. The tea set in the nursery reminded me that I have my Mother's china tea set that she played with as a child. She told me that when she knew certain cousins were coming for a visit she would hide it away so they wouldn't break it!

I liked the children's nursery room best. They had that set up so charming. As you said, the grounds where all those trails and rhododendrons were must be absolutely stunning when in bloom. I can only imagine.

The garden walk was wonderful. I have a 7 foot long old wooden sign in my garden which reads "If I had a flower, for every time I thought of you.....I could walk forever , in my garden". This reminded me of that saying. Just lovely.

Thank you Linda for this visit to the beautiful home and gardens of John Hay, a somewhat unrecognized statesman of our Nation. He was an accomplished and hardworking civil servant. Can you imagine serving as Secretary of State to Theodore Roosevelt?! Your attention to detail is so fitting. Indeed, I can only imagine the interior of the mansion with your touch. It would be a real tribute and superb! Patricia

This was so beautiful. I remember as a child going on vacation to the Lake Sunapee area. The entry foyer reminds me of the wallpaper in the diplomatic room at the White House . I believe the Hay Adams Hotel in DC “ Hay “ is named for John Hay. Thank you so much for the tour ! I would love to visit one day. My husband and I love history . The butterfly wallpaper was so pretty. The little tea set in the nursery so sweet. The gardens oh my goodness, just beautiful. Did you find inspiration for your gardens while you were there ? I watched this twice and a third time with my husband.Thank you again!

It's interesting to me, unless I am missing something main entrances in the homes I am seeing in New England are very simple, very understated ..you would almost think you were at a side entrance - in contrast to southern homes of a similar period for example, which tend to have more grandiose stairs, porches etc. I have not personally toured these areas, so just going by what I see depicted in presentations or film.

Oh such a lovely tour, I enjoy it very much..The garden and grounds are so beautiful too...By the way, I would have fix those two tiebacks on those curtains too! 😂 I once fixed a few pictures they were crooked on the walls of this lovely Italian Specialty Store. Good thing my husband was getting us lunch, and he didn't see me doing that. He gets embarrassed! 🤣 I can't help it, otherwise I will keep looking at those pictures and wanting to fix them so badly...And when I did, it felt great! 👍.....Yup OCD 🤷♀
