Thank you for this... I have never seen a FZ 750 1FM preserved in such an excellent and original state. Somebody took very good care of this historic motorcycle. I refer to it as the grandfather of the R1

Had that bike, put on a yosh pipe, then had the 88 with the full fairing, good times ! To this day, if i happen to hear one, with a pipe, it's music to my ears.

@@maximilliancunningham6091 Yep, I had 2, first was a 84' DT200 (or DT200R) 2-Stroke street/trail so kept up with the XT350 4-Stroke. My second bike was the 1986 FZ750 which is pictured. 85 didn't have the Navy Blue added which made it look a lot nicer. (I see a lot of incorrectly labelled model year pictures online) I believe the 87 went full fairing and back to red/white. I thought at that time 86 looks the best even without a full fairing. I wish I still had it but sold to my friend after he dropped it, ;( We are no longer friends! If I ever bought another bike, I certainly would prefer Yamaha all else being equal. They hands down had the best engines. 104hp on a 750cc and 450lb (or so) bike. Only real competitor was the Suzuki GSXR 750 as it was lighter but less HP. However, Yamaha was much more comfortable riding position for daily driving, and long highway rides. Also cornering was still competitive with Suzuki as the engine was mounted low as possible keeping the Center of gravity low as possible. Beautiful bike and great ride in the day, and I could still get the front up ;) BTW, I remember I think when the engine hit around 7,000rpm it has a sudden "kick" of power. No idea why, but was pretty cool. .... #1 engine maker. An upgrade to the lights with LED, and the instrument cluster, maybe some minor engine tweaks, and that bike would still be a contender today as a 2024 model. ;)
