This video presents a photograph of Hartford, CT that was taken c. 1900 and shows the buildings north of the Old State House along State Street (now State House Square). Except for the façade of the First National Bank, all of the buildings are gone today. In the video I talk about the buildings that were there and when they were torn down. They include the offices of the company that printed Hartford directories for 80 years, a hotel that was one the largest in the state, three banks, the onetime home of the Hartford Courant newspaper, and a restaurant/hotel owned by a highland games champion.
The photo is to early in 1900 to feature the Isle of Safety, which is now at the Connecticut Trolley Museum in East Windsor, CT:
