Historic Reel of Longleaf Logging: Over 100 Years old

Join us in a look at the history of logging caught on film over 100 years ago! Part of the World War One efforts back home included the logging of longleaf pine forest. Enough to build 2,025 portable barracks in 60 days! Many of these practices and innovations in this footage can be seen in today's logging and milling industries. However, a lot has changed as well. Our Jeffrey Forbes narrates these marvelous clips from the original inter-titles.

They may have been the pioneers that built this country, but their ignorance practically wiped out this amazing tree. Should be a law of mankind, if you cut one down, plant 3. No more problem

It is sad how much of the forest decimated in such a short amount of time. You might be interested in this documentary, vimeo.com/137612421. It discusses this overharvesting of Longleaf Pine and the efforts to restore the forest as much as possible.
