Cliff, I've got to say after seeing what those gentlemen and friends accomplished, I had a lump in my throat. This is the kind of dedication and history that our kids need to know and especially THIS place and road.. because it's still there!!! The History of America is more than the sum of it's parts that we only see after standing back and studying what was achieved over time! Thank You so much!

Good video. I used to live in Ligonier and grew up there, down the road a ways. My ancestors were the first people who climbed that front with Gist. Gist was the first man to ever climb the Allegheny Front on November 5, 1750.

Awesome to see actual remains of a French and Indian War fort! Edited to add that I have an ancestor who was part of the Forbes Expedition. He was part of the Lower County Provincials. So I find these videos particularly fascinating. Thank you!

Around here we have civil war reenactments and I enjoy taking my charcoals and sketchbook and sketching the infantry , I love to go to shiloh national Battlefield also , it’s close by , I REALLY ENJOY HOW YOU PUT VIDEOS INTO Categories and groups !!!! It makes watching so enjoyable 🍄

I swear to you that while I’m visiting places like SHILO NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD, I can actually feel the spirits and I just say out loud that , “ you’re gone but not forgotten “ ! Sometimes there’s a mist on bloody pond that looks like spirits dancing, it effects me , and I’m proud that I can remember and honor them , can you understand, I’m sure you do 🍄

Thank-you for another fine presentation. I took special interest in it because Forbes Road runs right beside my ancestral grounds at Deeters Gap. I am wondering if the stream sourced near the fort is the stream that runs through Deeters Gap, at which point it is called Deeters Run, which is known to source at the top of the mountain and is a tributary to the Juniata River.

I grew up around that area but never got to see the fort site. There is a WPA Monument for Edmund's Swamp on Monument Rd in Shade Township.

Such an interesting video loaded with great information. And I sit here in my comfortable home after eating dinner I didn't have to go out to hunt for and cook over an open campfire outside in cold weather, hearing about the hardships these people had to endure. I believe you are talking about the battle fought at Fort Necessity at the Great Meadows in 1754. So battle at Fort Necessity or Great Meadows. Washington was then a Lt. Colonel of the Virginia Regiment - a Virginia Provincial Regular Regiment and not militia as often incorrectly called.
