Was born in Droylsden, now live in Australia, have done for 53 years. Visited Droylsden in 1973, but not since Greetings from Adelaide South Australia.

I spent my entire teenage years in Droylsden, i went to Littlemoss and lived on Machester road, Brook avenue and St Andrews avenue near the church. I didn't move far, I now live in Ashton.

Loads of history at the Robertsons Jam Factory, Chris. The staff canteen was actually a dance hall and radio shows used to be broadcast from there during WWII. Also, the most famous (or maybe, infamous) employee was one, Myra Hindley. Also, blowing my own trumpet here, Droylsden Medlock Centre was the home of Tameside's only rugby league club, Tameside Borough. Good luck with the rest of it pal.

I grew up in Droylsden in the 50's and I remember the smell of marmalade days . Did'nt genraly notice the scent of strawberrys most of the time , but marmalade days the whole air ( from about a mile away ) was filled with that delicious aroma . There were other factory smells as well , some of them chemical and on the face of it unpleasant , but filtered through the trusty glasses of nostalgia so comforting .
