If you're going to do one of Marie Antoinette, you need to use her death mask, NOT paintings of her. This is b/c the artists of the day intentionally left out less flattering features, or replaced them altogether with more attractive ones.
@ChelseaLopez-c1qАй бұрын
How would someone recreate what a person looked like using a death mask and no pictures ?? You’d have to also use paintings and other info to get their skin color, eye color, hair color etc. If I make a mask of my face and send it to you how will I look? What color eyes do I have, how about my skin? What skin tone will you give me? How about my hair, is it short, long and what color is it?? You couldn’t create my face with the mask alone there’s no way. Not to mention our faces change at death. All the muscles in our body instantly relax. With the loss of tension our face can change quite a bit. Our skin will sag, the mouth can fall open, jaw can protrude . There’s no tension left in the face or body. The joints and bones change. This can happen within minutes. I’m not saying a death mask can’t give you some idea of what a person looked like but our faces change at death and it doesn’t do the person justice. The paintings can make them to attractive, the death mask can make them less attractive than in life. I think both can be used but neither are going to show you exactly what they looked like.
@raindog6852Ай бұрын
@@ChelseaLopez-c1q AI should merge both

@@mvpfocus I agree 100%. In the Marie Antoinette painting, for example, she had a very rounded chin (maybe even a hint of a double-chin hinting at some chubbiness) whereas in the reproduction that was all gone.
@valvihk3649Ай бұрын
@@mikeroman5208 Yeah, Marie Antoinette's painting recreation was the most unsatisfying.. I'm glad I was not the only one on this.. I didn't know that her features were altered to make her more beautiful tough

The thing is, portraits are usually flattering,most of these animations flatter the individuals even more so the effect may be far from the truth.There are some really convincing though, Durer for example.On the other hand,there is a wax image of Marie Antoinette based oh a death mask.She was an attractive woman but not as much as in the animation.

Fascinating.. to have lived at the time of these (mostly sovereigns & leaders) people, we should all remember there would be little chance of seeing these individuals, least of all so up-close. Nothing personal to these long dead people, but they turn out to be physically the essence of blandness & mediocrity. Kind of frightening to think many of these very powerful people could hold your life in their hands--live or die? It's a toss-up.

On the one hand this is a really intriguing idea, On the other hand, I think it's still doing what a lot of portrait painters did back in the day and making them look much better that what they perhaps actually looked liked. The other problem is that these AI models seemed to be based off of one particular portrait that they show. I'd rather see something where they could show different people who've had multiple portraits, and consolidate it into something a bit more specific. It's obviously impossible with anyone before the pre-modern era, but it'd be relatively easy with people from the 16th-19th century
