Came across this lecture while trying to understand history. Although not exactly what i was looking for it did give me a big insight into a section of the same. Very well explained, especially about Marx(whose writings i have unfortunately not read yet!!). The part about 2 dominant sections always being present=> master/slave,lord/serf,owner/worker has been true since the early days. At least today there is "more" flexibility in choosing your 'class'. Are we satisfied :)

These are phenomenal lectures. I felt I had to comment after reading some of the moronic posts below.

James Watt was scottish, not english. As was Adam Smith. She keeps mentioning these people in the same breath as 'england'. Scotland was vital to the industrial revolution, it was the intellectual driving force in the 18th century.

@maureenOWW Well, Scotland is inside England so can be forgiven imo...

Moot given that Jame Watt didn't invent the steam engine, Thomas Newcombe did.

That the other commentors can talk of this class, that I might type as I wish is certainly better than a fascistic disabling of comments like at Yale.

How do you expect your students to absorb such a large amount of historical facts and dates in one class session? Their attention span is no more than 15-20 minutes. You are putting them to sleep. I bet they are playing with their phones and not listening to you.
