Hey Ken, Great video with very clear and interesting history. I’ve traveled to Japan over 80 times and probably been on many of the Shinkansen over the years. I am an N Scale enthusiast but much prefer the steam era of railways. It would be great if you did a video on the history of the Japanese railway system. Please do your best for us history buffs. All the best!

I like your explanation and presentation on the Shinkansen rail network. I don't get to visit Japan as often as I'd like, but I most always make it a point to book passage on the Shinkansen on each visit. I first rode a "Bullet Train" as a youngster in 1965. The line between Osaka and Tokyo was the only destinations serviced with Kyoto in the middle of Japan's two largest cities. It took just over 4 hours on the Hikari. The Kodama's speed was the same but with a few added stops so the time was longer. I used to think that the Hikari was a faster train, but no. It is Japan's greatest post war engineering accomplishment timed to debut during the 1964 Olympics. I believe it is the most iconic in all of Japan rail history. For any rail fan the Shinkansen is the pinnacle of high speed rail travel on our planet. It is the safest, cleanest, most reliable and incredibly efficient as it is always precisely on time. The TGV may be faster, however the Shinkansen is a better rail experience for a rail fan. I have not had the fortune of riding on the Chinese high speed system. Nice work. Thank you.

Hello. Thank you for coming all the way from Canada to Japan ♪ Japanese railway trains have long prospered in two types: passenger trains and electric trains! When I go abroad, I would like to visit Canada too! This video was very interesting even for me, who doesn't understand much other than Japanese. Please keep doing a good job! I support you. Thank you for reading.

Thank you so much. I am a big fan of Japanese railways and the various companies and train lines. Every time I go, I see things that I wish Canada would adopt for its railway system.

Great video, I’m an absolute Shinkansen fanatic. Unfortunately for me, I’ve only ever ridden the Tokaido Shinkansen, as my grandparents live in the Shizuoka prefecture.

Thanks so much for the comment and kind words. The Tohoku and Hokoriku Shinkansen provide great rides - very smooth and stable and faster on certain stretches than the Tokaido Sen. Highly recommended to try them out.
