There is nothing wrong with the ICC world rankings. It reflects the consistency in performances but unfortunately it doesn't reflect with whom you have won. Pakistan became no.1 by playing and winning against weaker teams like Zimbabwe, Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and tier-2 or tier-3 teams on new Zealand, England and Australia. Similar is the situation of Babar Azam, who is no.1 in ODI's by scoring against these teams, he plays in very selfish manner for averages rather than contributing to team wins. Unfortunately for Pakistan other players in the team are doing the same which is contributing to defeats.

Afghanistan is a talented and a very disciplined side, which plays to their strengths knowing fully well of their limitations. Their spinners are world class . They are not a weak team. They play to a plan and are excellent in implementing it in ground. Pakistanis should change their mindset … Hum one day meim no 1 dhee… esliye hum sabse aage haim… Humne Afghanistan ko cricket sikhaya…. Pakistan has fast bowlers who could bowl at 150 km, but their line and length were poor, they performed only in patches. Their fielding was poor throughout the tournament as also the fitness levels( fitness doesn’t mean physical strength alone). Mind you, you don’t have Miandads/Imran khan/ Wasim Akram/ Waqar Younis / Shoib Akhtar. Imran khan is the only person who is responsible for Pakistan’s success in the late 80’s and 90’s . Talent is one thing , converting talent into consistent victories is a herculean task. Afghanistan fully deserved their victory.
