We used to walk around and feed the ducks in the duck pond when I was younger. Woodland Cemetery is the prettiest cemetery I have ever seen. It's hilly and has lots of trees. You went at a good time with all the colors of fall.

It is a great place to take a walk. I think I’ll go back in the spring when the trees start to bud and try to find the graves I missed on that tour or cover a couple of other points of interest there.

@@TheTolleRoad In the section across from the road and pond closest to the fence had older grave sites. Some of the grave sites had cameo photos inside metal frames with hinged covers. I was wondering if those were still there?

I didn’t see them on my visit but maybe I missed them.

Just watched this video and love it! My grandfather served on the Dayton PD and worked along side Mr. Rice. They lived in High view Platt and close to this cemetery. My grandfather passed in 1965 and led a very interesting life and encountered many historical people. Thanks for the video great info.

That is awesome! I can only imagine all of the famous/infamous people your grandfather met during that era. Dayton was really at the forefront of a lot of things during that time.

When my son was 3 he marveled at the huge tombs and mausoleums at Woodland. He asked, how come dead people have nicer homes than living people?

😂 that is a legitimate question! Woodland is one of the nicer cemeteries I’ve ever been too.
