Thanks for the good essay. I only rejoined the game about a year ago after having been away from it for nearly twenty years, and while Charizard was my crutch deck to re-learn how the game worked, Giratina made me say, "Huh, that looks neat, how does that work?" And I like the idea of it being emblematic of a slower-paced game where most of what you're doing for the first few turns is gimmick work, even as I think it's largely been superseded by turn-2 Charizard/Dragapult aggression and to some extent by Roaring Moon-ex also being able to unconditionally knock most things out while getting a boost from Pecharunt (thinking on it, I'm surprised Okidogi-ex wasn't more popular than it was).

i started to play LZ tina when paldea evolved was legal and played it non-stop for a year. i managed to get 2 challenge wins back to back, regular top 4 at cups, and brought it to brisbane and perth regionals where i got top 128 and top 32 respectively (im in the video itself. haiiiii). my only complaint with the deck was that it was consistently good to get top 8 regularly but not a deck to win a tournament. i wish tina vstar would be better with the newest format but im happy with the time ive had with the deck

I just started playing the tcg less than 2 months ago, and when testing the precons given on ptcglive, LZ Tina was by far my favorite deck, it's extremely fun and chaotic. Now with pretty much every new deck coming out having attackers with over 300 hp and there not being much powering up Tina can do, I feel like I just can't play tina anymore unless I get real cool with losing all the time lol. As much as I hate to abandon my favorite deck, looks like it's inevitable at this point.

Great video essay (it's probs worth having "History of Giratina VSTAR" in the title for SEO, I clicked cos the thumbnail was cool but had no idea this was a PTCG video until it started) looking forward to the next one

Just a heads up: your subtitles would be way more readable if they had a contrasting outline. Black letters with a with a white outline would be good.

I am still looking at the best possibility of lost tina combination at SCrown era. I tried teal mask tina but not really consistent

I’ve been holding out hope that lost engines will rise once again after surging surging sparks and beyond. With all the stellar Pokémon with goofy attack costs, it may be time to dust off our colress experiments to accelerate them. I personally been testing a lost engine with sylveon ex and having a blast with it

I really hope they do pick up again, I’ve been playing a lot of LZBTurbo

I could see that happening. A few weeks before Sparkling Crystal came out, I briefly saw one or two people using a Lost mechanism to set up a Dragapult. It didn't work out for that person in my match with them, but it was an unusual concept that I respected them for trying.

This was the first deck i decided to play and i absolutely love this deck. It was so much fun. Now theres charizard ex and other wacky decks running sround that just kinda do too much sometimes.

Lost engines just fall off in this current meta agreed. For giratina it’s the simple fact that Drago does it better and faster, but for the other lost variants I’ve been seeing that the issue has mainly been that of dragapult and kyerum (in drago not by itself) being able to pick off comfey way too easily for 2-3 prize turns

Yeah, sablezard has been able to play around thing with 2 manaphy and good switch cart usage but Tina struggles with that
