Although these rulers were also Turkish in origin, they espoused the SHITTE form of Islam and established a state.[7] *The Ottoman, Safavid and Mughal Empires. Though political and ideological rivals all three empires were of Turkic origin and belonged to the same Persianate cultural universe.[8] *Form of Shi'ism under pressure from the Safavids, originally a Turkic Sufi order who were themselves former Sunnis.[9] *The three Islamic empires of the early modern period - the Mughal, the Safavid, and the Ottoman - shared a common Turko-Mongolian heritage.[10] *Safavid power with its distinctive Persian-Shi‘i culture, however, remained a middle ground between its two mighty Turkish neighbors. The Safavid state, which lasted at least until 1722, was essentially a "Turkish" dynasty, with Azeri Turkish (Azerbaijan being the family's home base) as the language of the rulers and the court as well as the Qizilbash military establishment.[11] *Under the Safavids, the Azeri Turks came into conflict with the expanding Ottoman Turks[12] *A massive migration of Oghuz Turks in the l lth and l2th centuries not only Turkified Azerbaijan but also Anatolia. The Azeri Turks are Shi'ites and were founders of the Safavid dynasty.[13] *The modern history of Persia really begins with the rise of the *Safavid Dynasty in 1500. Although these rulers were also Turkish in origin, they espoused the Shi'ite form of Islam.[14] *The Caucasus was a battleground between the Sunni Ottoman Empire and the Turkic Shia Safavid Dynasty of Persia.[15] *Shah Isma'il I (1500-24), the founder of the Safavid dynasty of Azeri origin, made the Shi'a branch of Islam.[16] *This family, reported by some sources to be of Azerbaijani origin[17] *Three major Islamic empires emerged, all with Turkic roots to varying degrees: those of the Ottomans (1300-1922), Safavids (1501-1722), and Moghuls (1526-1858).[18] *The Ottoman eastward expansion was stalled by the rise of another Turkish dynasty, the Safavids, in Persia.[19] *The Safavid Turks, who had their genesis in a Shia dervish order in Azerbaijan.[20] *Selim I captured the Capital Tebriz also and thus put a check on the growth of the military power of the Safavid Turks.[21] * “gunpowder empires”: the Empire of the Ottoman Turks (centered in Turkey), that of the Safavid Turks (centered in Iran or Persia)[22] *Discuss the religious and political issues that separated the Ottoman Turks and the Safavid Turks.[23] *See Ottoman Empire; Safavid Turks Turks, 10 revolt against, 225 Safavid, 30 Twelver branch.[24] * In the early 16th century, the Azeri dynasty of the Safavids ( r. 1501-1736 ) took power in Tabriz and developed a culture that influenced much of the region.[25] *Of three great empires: the Mughals in South Asia, the ?afavids in Persia, and the Ottomans in the west. The three empires shared basic features such as Turkic dynastic origins.[26] *What most Iranians are not told (neither by the Shia clergy nor ultra-Iranian nationalits) is how the Turkic Safavids slaughtered thousands upon thousands of Persians (Sunnis), starting with the elite, the thinkers and scholars.[27] *The rule of the Turkic Safavids completed the process of linguistic Turkicisation of modern Azerbaijanis which was initiated by the Seljuks in the eleventh century.[28] *Buyids (Iranian) (945-1055) . Safavids (Turkic) (1501-1722)[29] * Although arising from a local, originally Sunni Sufi order in Azerbaijan, the Turkish Safavids speedily became the vigorous upholders of Shi'ism.[30] *The Safavid and Qajar dynasties, rulers in Iran from 1501 to 1722 and from 1795 to 1925 respectively, were Turkic in origin[31] *Understands political achievements of the Safavid and Mughal Empires ,how Persia was unified by the Turkic Safavids.[32] *Therefore, the student is able to: 5-12 Explain the unification of Persia under the Turkic Safavids.[33] *To bolster its legitimacy, the Turkish Safavid dynasty created the fiction of an ancestral link.[34] *The Turkic origin of the Safavid dynasty, which is rarely acknowledged in u conventional Turkish nationalist historiography.[35] *Shah Ismail, a Turk of the Shi'i sect of Islam, arose as leader of both Turkic and Iranian adherents of this sect, who placed more emphasis upon religion than upon ethnic origin.[36] * The Safavids were originally Turkic, ghazis like the Osmanlis and succeeded, like them, in distancing possible rivals.[37] * The Safavids were descended from a family of Turkmen Sufi sheikhs from Ardabil, in Azerbaijan.[38] * In the early 1500s, a thirteen-year-old Turkmen named Ismail, who lived in western Iran, conquered the whole country[39] * Yet even Iran's foreign conquerors - such as the Turkic Safavid, Afshar, and Qajar dynasties.[40] Sources: *1-Women, Religion and Culture in Iran*2-World History DeMYSTiFieD Stephanie Muntone McGraw Hill Professional-Page 238 *3-Modern Persian Prose Literature-Page 9*4-Comparative History of Civilizations in Asia: 10,000 B.C. to 1850 Edward L. This was a forceful demonstration of royal power, levelling the field of potential successors, eliminating over- mighty subjects, and cautioning the Qizilbash elites that times had changed. 187 The Ottoman, Mughal, and Safavid dynasties all had Turkic roots and traced their provenance to the steppe. www.cambridge.org/core/books/dynasties/002241B6B91B298ED8C5C28E9FB29ABE/listing?q=Provenance&_csrf=gwwoUS33-Q6kxPygE10z02PNfmIouzLuGlng&searchWithinIds=002241B6B91B298ED8C5C28E9FB29ABE&fts=yes&searchWithinIds=002241B6B91B298ED8C5C28E9FB29ABE&aggs%5BproductTypes%5D%5Bfilters%5D=BOOK_PART They may have been Iranians or Turks, or even of Kurdish or Arabic origin, but their appeal was religious rather than ethnic or tribal. Devotion to the Safavid order was widespread among the Türkmen tribes of Azarbayjan and Anatolia. Safavid followers wore a distinctive red turban and were known as Qizilbash, or “red-heads.” The Safavid order was both Sufi and Shiite in orientation, and it is thanks to the Safavids that Iran is a Shiite country today. Religious overtones aside,in most other respects theirs was a typical turkish dynasty. As late as the 1660s and 1670s, a Frenchman at the Safavid court could still write: “Turkish is the language of the armies and of the court; one speaks nothing but Turkish there, as much among the women as among the men, throughout in the seraglios of the great; this comes about because the court is originally of the country of this language, descended from the Türkmens, of whom Turkish is their native tongue. www.cambridge.org/core/books/firearms/33BCC813B4FFB68D5C830DE09D9F2B47 Safavid power with its distinctive Persian-Shi'i culture, however, remained a middle ground between its two mighty Turkish neighbors. In contrast to those Iranian officials who claim that the Turks in Iran were actually originally Persians, the late IRGC Commander Qassem Suleimani claimed that the descendants of Turkic dynasties that live in Iran are not Iranian. Suleimani claimed: "Turks are aliens and non-Iranians. For hundreds of years (during Turkic rule in Iran), Iran had no history. Non- Iranians like the Seljuks invaded and ruled Iran."74 Shaffer, B. As late as the 1660s and 1670s, a Frenchman at the Safavid court could still write: “Turkish is the language of the armies and of the court; one speaks nothing but Turkish there, as much among the women as among the men, throughout in the seraglios of the great; this comes about because the court is originally of the country of this language, descended from the Türkmens, of whom Turkish is their native tongue.”7 Chase, K. (2003). Eastern Islamdom. In Firearms: A Global History to 1700 (pp. 112-140). Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. doi:10.1017/CBO9780511806681.006 The Iranians thought the Turks coarse and uncouth, lacking any appreciation for poetry and the other fine arts. The Turks, on the other hand, looked down on the Persians as effete and unable to pacify and protect their own country. This conflict is said by one recent commen- tator to have been a major cause for the collapse of the regime. The Safavid emperors were never able to integrate the two types into a coherent, unified governing system." Blake, S. (1991). Courtly and popular culture. In Shahjahanabad: The Sovereign City in Mughal India 1639-1739 (Cambridge South Asian Studies, pp. 122-160). Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. Because of their military prowess , the Qizilbash regarded the principal offices of the Safavid state as their natural due . In their eyes the functions of a Tajik ( a pejorative term for non - Turk ) were “ to look after the accounts and divan business . Blake, S., 1999. As an Armenian, we don't really talk about Azerbaijan's history and say they are practically the same as the Turks and I respect Azerbaijan having their own history in the Caucasus and in Karabakh/Artsakh. The term Safavid Iran is a regional term. It says that the Safavid empire was an empire that ruled in the Iranian region. However, it does not say that the Safavids were Persian. This information provided by ignorant Persians by looking at Wikipedia is wrong. Safavids is a Turkic empire and was founded by Shah Ismail, an Azerbaijani Turk.

Safavids were Turkmen, they are the worst dynasty in the history of Iran, because they did "Bacha Bazi" just like the Ottomans, I hate them. In the classical Persian literary tradition - the entire vocabulary of which consists of stock phrases and images - "Turk' and 'Tajik' are stand-in terms for easily recognizable social stereotypes: one simple but violent; the other wily but civilized. Rūmi turns this on its head, however, in the following couplet: Attack upon attack came the darkness of night/Be strong like a Turk, not soft like a Tajik' (Yek hamleh va yek hamleh, āmad shab va tārīkī/chosti kon va "Torki' kon, na narmī va ‘Tājīkī'). Often ‘Turk' was also used to refer to the poet's beautiful young (unattainable) beloved, as in the following lines from Sa'di: 'Maybe they'll tell the King/"Your Turk (i.e., your Beloved) has spilled Tajik blood" (Shayad ke be padshah begüyand/Tork-e tö berikht khūn-e Tājīk), or elsewhere, 'Show your Tajik face, not Abyssinian black/That the Heavens may obliterate the face of the Turks' (Ru-ye Tājīkāna-t benmā, tā dagh-e habash/ Asman chehre-ye Torkān yaghma'i keshad). Since Turkic men often ‘married up’ and started families with Tajik women, the bloodlines tended to become increasingly mixed over the generations. (Recent DNA studies in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have shown no notable genetic difference between modern Uzbeks and Tajiks.) And since children typically spent their first years within the harem, the influence of Tajik mothers in constructing the identity of their mixed-race children was surely much greater than is admitted in the patriarchal written sources of the time. Military figures in particular often made much of their tough Turkic heritage, even as they sought to demonstrate their own cultivation by speaking Persian and patronizing Persian courtly culture. The Tajik scribes, for their part, were naturally required to flatter their patrons, but they flattered themselves as well in whatever subtle ways they could. - Richard Foltz, Chapter 4, Tajiks and Turks, The Turk-Tajik symbiosis

The ''women's quarter'' of the palace was presided over by the king's senior wife, who bore the title ''Queen of Queens'' (MLKT'n MLKT'). In SKZ this title is used when mentioning Denak, the sister and wife of Ardashir I, and Aturanahit, the daughter and wife of Shapur I. Among Parthian sources, a similar title is found on the coins of Phraataces, with a portrait of his mother and wife, Musa. It is propably Ardashir I's wife, Denak, who is depicted on an amethyst in the Hermitage collection. 1. Even if Ardeshir Sassani was married to his sister, yet it was not a Persian culture. According to Herodotus, this would have been regarded as illegal. Also, I am not interested in Sasanians and Parthians. I love the Persian Achaemenians. 2. Unfortunately, before Christianity and Islam, marrying a sister was normal in all countries, except Persia.

*In Iran entered a period of relative obscurity and seclusion under two dynasties of Turkish origin: the Safavids and the Qajars.[1] *The Safavids were of Turkish descent..[2] *As with their Safavid predecessors, the new dynasty was of Turkish origin ; and administrative institutions similar to those the Safavids had attempted to build up were revived.[3] *There was a real need for the Safavids to disassociate themselves from their arch-foes by playing down their own Turkish origins.[4] *The Divan of Shah İsmail, the founder of the Safavid Dynasty was written in Turkish,, because he was of Turcoman origin.[5] *The Safavids (1501-1722), two major dynasties of Turkish origin.[6] *The modern history of Persia really begins with the rise of the SAFAVID dynasty in 1500. Although these rulers were also Turkish in origin, they espoused the SHITTE form of Islam and established a state.[7] *The Ottoman, Safavid and Mughal Empires. Though political and ideological rivals, all three empires were of Turkic origin and belonged to the same Persianate cultural universe.[8] *Form of Shi'ism under pressure from the Safavids, originally a Turkic Sufi order who were themselves former Sunnis.[9] *The three Islamic empires of the early modern period - the Mughal, the Safavid, and the Ottoman - shared a common Turko-Mongolian heritage.[10] *Safavid power with its distinctive Persian-Shi‘i culture, however, remained a middle ground between its two mighty Turkish neighbors. Ghaznavids (Turkic) (994-1030) . Seljuks (Turkic) (1045-1217) . Mongol/Ilkhanid Dynasties (Turkicized Mongols) (1221-1338) . Timurids and Turkmen (Turkic) (1383-1501) . Safavids (Turkic) (1501-1722)[29] * Although arising from a local, originally Sunni Sufi order in Azerbaijan, the Turkish Safavids speedily became the vigorous upholders of Shi'ism.[30] *The Safavid and Qajar dynasties, rulers in Iran from 1501 to 1722 and from 1795 to 1925 respectively, were Turkic in origin[31] *Understands political achievements of the Safavid and Mughal Empires ,how Persia was unified by the Turkic Safavids.[32] *Therefore, the student is able to: 5-12 Explain the unification of Persia under the Turkic Safavids.[33] *To bolster its legitimacy, the Turkish Safavid dynasty created the fiction of an ancestral link.[34] *The Turkic origin of the Safavid dynasty, which is rarely acknowledged in u conventional Turkish nationalist historiography.[35] *Shah Ismail, a Turk of the Shi'i sect of Islam, arose as leader of both Turkic and Iranian adherents of this sect, who placed more emphasis upon religion than upon ethnic origin.[36] * The Safavids were originally Turkic, ghazis like the Osmanlis and succeeded, like them, in distancing possible rivals.[37] * The Safavids were descended from a family of Turkmen Sufi sheikhs from Ardabil, in Azerbaijan.[38] * In the early 1500s, a thirteen-year-old Turkmen named Ismail, who lived in western Iran, conquered the whole country[39] * Yet even Iran's foreign conquerors - such as the Turkic Safavid, Afshar, and Qajar dynasties.[40] Sources: *1-Women, Religion and Culture in Iran *2-World History DeMYSTiFieD Stephanie Muntone McGraw Hill Professional-Page 238 *3-Modern Persian Prose Literature-Page 9 *4-Comparative History of Civilizations in Asia: 10,000 B.C. to 1850 Edward L. Nader Shah is a joke. He was defeated 70,000 against Topal Osman Pasha in the Battle of Samarra and he lost 40,000 soldiers.[1][2] He was shot from his horse in battle and almost died Then he attacked the Topal Osman again, but was repelled again LOL. Finally, by gathering 50,000 men, he could barely defeat the Topal Osman's 10,000 soldiers.[3] Nader is a joke, the Topal Osman always crushed his and Nader would never be able to beat his unless 5x bigger more than his. Topal Osman beat his when he was 70 and sick LOOOOL. Some children compare Napoleon to Nader Shah but only the Battle of Austerlitz>Nader Shah. Napoleon always fought great armies and empires but Nader Shah could never defeat the Ottoman Empire's army of more than 50,000 men. He managed to defeat only small armies with 4-5 times more soldiers. Only once he faced equal armies and more than 50,000 armies, he nearly died and he fled the battle LOOL. Napoleon destroyed an empire with the Battle of Austerlitz, while Nader Shah was looking for a hole to escape in the face of large armies LOOOOL. Even in the Battle of Karnal, which is considered his brightest victory, he hisself was 160,000 and the Babur army was 80,000[4][5][6] He never mattered to large empires. The Ottoman Empire crushed Nader Shah as he fought both the Habsburgs and Russia at the same time. Nader is a joke for Napoleon.Napoleon>10x Nader Shah.

According to É. Á. Csató et al.,[247] "A specific Turkic language was attested in Safavid Persia during the 16th and 17th centuries, a language that Europeans often called Persian Turkish ("Turc Agemi", "lingua turcica agemica"), which was a favourite language at the court and in the army because of the Turkic origins of the Safavid dynasty. The original name was just turki, and so a convenient name might be Turki-yi Acemi."
