This contains 4 parts of the Andrew Graham-Dixon series on the BBC. It is no longer available on the iPlayer. I have uploaded 4 parts of the 6 part series recorded in the 90s on VHS. Apologies for the low quality but hopefully the BBC will make this available again.

What about the spectacular Anglo-Saxon metalwork from way back in the 7th century? Doesn't that count as British art?

fascinating subject but get on with it! should've started at the beginning! not with the enormous subject of the reformation... i was hoping for some rock art? pre- Celtic, Celtic, Roman, Anglo Saxon, etc.. and please get rid of the music.. otherwise, great, thankyou for sharing this... 🙂 x

Surely quite a few wall paintings in many churches/cathedrals predate the Wilton dyptich. ???

I’m baptized in the Church of England, but I disagree with the English iconoclasm.
