Would have been nice if you guys specify from which language the word kumbé comes from. Africa is a huge and diverse continent with more than 50 countries and literally more than thousand languages and generalise it like that could sound depreciating. Apart from that, nice video and great live music! And really really nice work of going to schools to teach what cumbia is! Greetings from a cumbiero in Germany

Unfortunately it wasn't an easy task to find the precise origins of the word Cumbe. We do though assume that it originates from one of the African countries colonised by Portugal, those countries are Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe. Hope we could help 🎺

There are many different styles of cumbia now. It has travelled all over latin america and became huge in Mexico. I really like the Satevo style from northern Mexico.
