I have been obsessed with HM since 1977/78, when my babysitter gave me an ad pamphlet for Disney World. Thank you so much for sharing.

THE best ride at Disney
@OneWithWaves14 жыл бұрын
I first rode the Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris when I was about 6 or 7 and it terrified me. I visited the WDW version 2 more times, I believe at 12/13 and 15, and wimped out both times (one time I was actually in the building and left after seeing the portrait change into a corpse). Finally, at 17, I went in with my nieces and nephews and had an absolute blast! This instantly became one of my favorite non-thrill rides there!
@disneyfan8112 жыл бұрын
I'm glad they actually didn't use the screams from 3:20 to 3:23 on the ride (they're originally from the 1964 record album "Chilling Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House"), because even to this day, I still find it pretty bloodcurdling.
@gspendlove11 жыл бұрын
I have the original record and storybook of "The Haunted Mansion." It features the voice of Thurl Ravenscroft (such a fitting name for a record about the Haunted Mansion; Ravenscroft was also the voice of Tony the Tiger in the Kellogg's commercials), and the voice of a young man named....Ronny Howard (yup, THAT one).

Thanx 4 uploading! it's really cool the things you learn about Disney rides! I ddnt know that the HM didnt open 4 a few years or that the ride used to be so terrifying... or so ppl say.

They took out The Hatbox Ghost only because the effect of his head disappearing and reappearing in the hatbox just didn't work as good as 1969 technology would allow (IOW, the doom buggy passed too close to the figure, plus the ride's ambient light, for it to vanish fully).

This is one of my fav rides ! So awesome ! Disneyland wouldn't be the same without it ! I wanna be ghost number 1,000 when I die . .
@amberwahidi69507 жыл бұрын
Phantwigurl they don't let people spread ashes in the parks. Disney has a rule about it. Someone wanted theirs spread at the haunted mansion and the cast member stopped the ride the customer got escorted out and the ashes got vaccumed up. It's a legal issue. No gum is another rule. People get in trouble with security about it. After burial some place else. You could fly there. :)

That was interesting for years I didn't know the ride it's self was outside the Park and only the Elevator was in the house.
@pixiechick200815 жыл бұрын
Disneyland. They comment that the stretching room is an elevator down. In DIsneyland it has to be an elevator down since it colides with the traintracks. In Disney World the room stretches up and you remain on the same level.

I love how when walt Describes something in the future, it's never "we are putting in..". He always sets it up. for example, here he says "We are want them to want to live at Disneyland, so we are guaranteeing creaky doors..." What animatronics, the ghosts there are actually ghosts!!! lol, ya know what I mean, it adds to the magic.

If I remember right the one in DisneyWorld just stretches upwards. The one in DisneyLand is an elevator.
@caljones4 жыл бұрын
GoldKnightProduction yeah, the elevator is because guests have to go under the Disneyland railroad to actually ride the ride. Any attraction that has you go down then up while waiting in line and it’s at the edge of the park, you’re going under the railroad tracks
@TherealRNOwwfpooh13 жыл бұрын
@thelonelyslayer: That's because Europeans are used to things being far more scarier than we in the States, for remember, much of Halloween in general & overall stories of ghosts, goblins, monsters, zombies, etc. all stem from European legend. We in the States merely adopted those tales, but them more family-oriented'

The haunted mansion at Disneyland has become so watered down its sad actually. I can't even pretend to be scared anymore. And when they pull that "christmas version" its even more pathetic. I used to LOVE this ride (both in California and Florida) but its now just a way to beat the heat on a hot day.
@TherealRNOwwfpooh13 жыл бұрын
@tokifan18: Screw that. I miss the tragedy of the original. Axe-weilding, muderous brides-to-be simply aren't suited for the Disney style IMO, but a forelorn love affair that leaves our ghastly couple yearing for all eternity suits the Disney realm just fine. Ironic, since it is Constance's voice actress who recalls one of the many tales told about her beating heart predecessor, Emily.
