That’s the point isn’t it? Ryu wanted to win at all cost. And another point, Sagat paid for disobeying the very first rule in a fight. Protect yourself at all times. He let his guard down and tried to help a fighter to his feet. Only a sucker gets hit by a sucker punch. Thus the No Satsu Hadou was born.

History Behind the Warrior I think Ryu is basically what was left over from Gouki's humanity when he embraced the Satsui no Hado and cast out his soul. I think that's one reason why Rose shares such a strong connection to him. Because their paths are very similar

Good video. Have you read _Street Fighter Unlimited_ #11 where it revealed that Evil Ryu isn't Ryu's inner darkness but an actual split personality? It's a rather trippy issue where Evil Ryu and "Ryu" have a mental battle where the two basically "kill" each other so the "real" Ryu can come out. It's some real _Xenogears_ psychobabble right there but it was a neat take on Ryu.

I honestly wish capcom games could've made a storyline in the games,where evil ryu and ken represented young versions of akuma/gouki and Gouken,like they could show us how akuma and gouken came to be who they were,through ryu and ken metaphorically...imagine Ken mastering the power of nothingness battling ryu now fully consumed by the satsui no hado? Many people don't realize how evil ryu's story in alpha 3 basically depicts to us how akuma became the supreme master of the fist,if you think about it

I really like Evil Ryu, a lot better than regular Ryu. In Alpha 3 he is the only character I ever picked...mostly. Sometimes Balrog, and sometime Ingrid (in Max), and R.Mika when I was bored. In USF4 I play him all the time. I love his alternate costume where he has the long crazy hair. I'm totally awesome with him and to date have never lost a single battle (not online...I don't play online) with him, even on the hardest difficulty playing the Versus Mode, even though I came super close one time fighting Blanka. Where I won the Final Battle with a "C (for Cheap or Cheese)" with 0% vitality when rising from a knock down and having Blanka foolishly standing directly over me, which everyone knows is just asking for a Shoryuken in the face. Also, they say that Ryu got that hole in his chest from Asura from Asura's Wrath, which is non canon, but I believe he got it from Akuma, rather Oni. If you ever watch the animation of Oni Akuma's super fire ball (I'm sure it has some Japanese sounding name), it hits the chest of the victim and seems to go inside of them before exploding out of their back. If you look at Evil Ryu in his other alternate costume in USF4 he has a small, perfectly circular hole in his chest, and his back is all burned up and has a large, more uneven hole. I believe that was caused by Oni Akuma's fire ball which Evil Ryu (or just regular Ryu) managed to survive.

Trivia Evil Ryu first appeared in Masahiko Nakihara's Street Fighter Zero manga's where Capcom adopted that storyline which Ryu battles his murderous evil side.

I feel like that Street Fighter V wasn't a sealing of the Satsui no Hado... I feel like he purified it and is now able to harness his full potential without losing himself. That's why he has the Blue aura instead of red. I believe this does indeed mark the end of any official appearances of Evil Ryu, but he still may appear from time to time just for fun. Story wise it'd be good if he never appeared again.

I like the Snk vs Capcom Interpretation of Evil Ryu, Where instead of being angry or full of hate, he seems somewhat depressed, and questions his own goals and needs, And my Favorite quote is when he beats the opponent and says "Is this really what I wanted?" The artwork also adds to this showing Ryu standing somewhat Emotionlessly, instead of using his attacks with hatred or anger, it's mostly pain. That is the Evil Ryu I think would make sense in the canon.

This was great. do Akuma next. One of my biggest problems wit SF5 is how much they've killed the story. for me Alpha was peak. it gave just enough without being silly. Ideally the best stories are told with small nods not, not comics or hours long worth of bad cutscenes

With Kage being the physical embodiment of the Satsui no Hado within Ryu while Evil Ryu is Ryu himself if he succumbs to the Satsui no Hado. Not to mention Kage doesn't seem to have all the usual moves Evil Ryu has such as his hadoken not traveling at all (apart from the red hadoken) and Kurekijin replacing Tatsumaki

This is a generalization people alot of details are skimmed over i feel like how he said evil ryu runs along the lines of mindset as akuma which they do not you can see many times when akuma comes in contact with evil ryu he is disgusted Akuma seeks perfection not vanity to control the forces which rule over humanity hense choosing to challenge the no hado Evil ryu is more akin to Oni since both scenarios both individuals let the no hado take over them but neither of them actually like the idea of that happening and despite akuma scoffing at his humanity its still there seeing he became friends with Elena who was said to have like almost to no evil within her and oro who was more on the side of gouken in moral compass and found akuma disturbing at first
