Hisar is a city, municipal corporation and administrative headquarters of Hisar district of Hisar division in the state of Haryana in northwestern India. It is located 161.2 km (100.16 mi) to the west of New Delhi, India's capital, and has been identified as a counter-magnet city for the National Capital Region to develop as an alternative centre of growth to Delhi.
The city was founded in 1354 AD, as Hisar-e-Firoza by Firoz Shah Tughlaq, the Sultan of Delhi from 1351 to 1388.[citation needed] The word Hisar means fort or castle in Persian. The city was ruled by several major powers, including the Tughlaqs in the 14th century, the Mughals in the 16th century, and the British in the 19th century. After India achieved independence, it was unified

जय जय हरियाणा पुरानी यादे पुराने हिसार के चार दरवाजे थे. मोरी गेट, दिल्ली गेट ,तलाकी गेट, नागोंरि गेट, ओल्ड सिटी के नागोंरि गेट मोती बाजार में प्रवेश करने से पहले लिखा था मोटे मोटे शब्दों में ,शाही दुर्ग फिरोज का, कहते जिसे हिसार ,कल तक मरुस्थल था आज हरियाणा का singar,. मे हिसार में 1984 से रहने लगा. गुजरी महल के पीछे पठानौ के मौहले में रहता था. हमारा बचपन गुजरी महल में खेल कर गुजरा है.,अनगिनत यादे याद हे. हमने देखा था 1984 के दंगों में सिक्ख लोगों ने यहां छिप कर अपनी जान बचाई थीं,पीछे सरकारी स्कूल थीं आजकल जिंदल पार्क बना है ,
