I remembered since I was born... Thundercats were my first came to attention and first favourite childhood, my mom got me some Thundercats figures, same time i came attention to MOTU and POP, grew interested with them, as i came to the MOTU toy section at the mall, i was eyeing on He-man and She-Ra figures but my mom say no as i got Thundercats figures were good enough.... I never got a MOTU figures till i grew up into adult and got a job... My first MOTU figures were the Super7 Filmation figures (based on original figures with spring punching action that is), i was happy that i finally got my hands on them, then i begin to collect MOTU as Origins and Masterverse were released.... (That time when the classic series were released, i was still studying at college and haven't got a job, also i wasn't aware of it, as i begin my toy collecting on Transformers, TMNT and other, i noticed the MOTU classics which a hobby shop sells Superman vs He-man figure, almost want to grab that 2 pack but realised that he-man didn't have his iconic Sword of Power, just his battle axe and shield which based from the original crossover comic, so i passed... But later i regretted and came back to that shop but too late, it already sold out, bummer)

Great video-it's always interesting to hear about the design process and all of the different artists who helped create the line. Donald Glut added a lot of backstory to these characters in the early mini-comics. Also, if memory serves me well, Mer-Man wasn't the only character who switched sides before release. Stratos was briefly considered as an evil character ("a villain soaring on wings of wickedness, filling the sky with evil schemes") as was Zodac (hence the "evil cosmic enforcer" tagline from some early packaging artwork). The Teela action figure seemed to serve as two characters-without the armor as Teela, the warrior, and as the Goddess/Sorceress with the snake armor. Initially, when developing the 80's cartoon, Filmation tried to utilize the snake design for the Sorceress, but went with the falcon motif instead when the snake theme made her appear too much like an evil character. Alas, looking forward to more videos!

Thanks for the insight! If I ever dive deeper into the mini-comics, I will have to mention Donald Glut. Correct on Zodac switching from villain to neutral. We ended up focusing more on his addition due to Mattel not wanting a 2nd female character in wave 1. Will on more MOTU videos for sure!

Ahh I remember mowing lawns from r weeks to pay for castle greyskull. Then I’ll never forget a few years later seeing moss man on an end cap and it was literally all moss man. I looked at it and was upset it was a direct redeco of beast man and I was out and mainly focused on GI Joe.

Lol. I might have assumed Moss Man was an army builder if I saw all that. I suppose I should say Yo Joe here? Well... Yo Joe!

Lawfare against Mattel. Probably someone felt owning Conan meant they owned the whole barbarian theme. Lucas also used lawfare against Galactica. The hipocrisy of Lucas is evident as TESB and ROTJ movies used themes from Galactica episodes "The gun on ice planet zero". Ice planet battle, subterranean base raid to stop a big from firing. You get the idea.
