I also read your delightful piece on Annapoorna Cafeteria at Round Tana. During 1961-65, as college students we used to enjoy the food served with tongs and gloved hands. 30 varieties of sweets each 13 ps! Masal dosa, coffee, poori same price. Sundal, tea 7 paise each.

Before the installation of Anna's statue, an underground toilet was there. It was used by large no. people, particularly the shop goers and pedestrians. After every use it used to be cleaned and people used to tip the workers liberally. I have as a student used it on many occasions. Happy that my memory has been shared by others too.

Yet another interesting presentation from your side. .Kudos to you . As a resident of Anna Nagar West, I'm bit surprised that you haven't mentioned about Anna Nagar Roundtana which I guess is the most popular roundabout in the city.. Infact, today the moment you say or hear Roundtana..its easily related only to Anna Nagar Roundtana..Also to my knowledge it's the biggest roundabout / junction in the city... Also you mentioned Chennai Gymkhana during the narration. That Gymkhana is still Madras Gymkhana...😀
