Not all of this video is based on the facts. It is true that Yahya and Bhutto were mainly responsible for the breakup of Pakistan. Pakistani Army launched a military crackdown on 25th March 1971 when there was no Mukti-Bahini, which was formed as a reaction to the atrocities by the Pakistan Army. Pak army failed to crush Mukti Bahini which was controlling the border areas of East Pakistan. Muktis were using Guerrilla warfare tactics to inflict damage and limit free movement for the Pakistani troops. Multi-Bahini also became a formidable force and some groups were operating in Dhaka itself. "Bangladesh Revolutionary Govt." was formed in April 1971 supported by India. India did not intervene before Pakistan bombed the Indian territories in the western border in December 1971. Then Indian troops pushed their way towards Dhaka with the help of the Mukti Bahini which held up the Pakistani forces in the long term battles. When it was decided, Pakistani troops insisted on surrendering to India fearing retaliation by the Mukti Bahini.

Few Corrections: 1. You did not mention about one of the worst possible Genocides of human kind on 25 March 1971 led by Pak Army named as "Operation Searchlight". 2. You did not mention about the 26 March 1971 declaration of Independent Bangladesh and the declaration of Independence War of Bangladesh. 3. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested on 26 March 1971 which you did not mentioned and he was in jail till the independence of Bangladesh. 4. Mukti Bahini/ Mukti Fauj whatever you say were formed after the 26 March independence declaration followed by the Operation Searchlight & genocide. But the way you narrated it seems that Mukti bahini was formed earlier and so after that Pak Army were deployed. Absolutely wrong. Pak Army deployed on 25 March 1971. Mukti bahini was formed later on. Moreover, India joined the war and deployed their forces on the December of 1971. Even, Till the May-June 1971 people undergo military training on various camps located in the border areas of India--Bangladesh.

I am from Mumbai, India and Some fact are missing or misleading... 1. Bhutto should have honoured the poll and given way to Sheikh Mujibur Rehman...but he did otherwise 2. Millions of immigrants came to India as refugees...resulting into pressure on food and shelter as we India was not a strong economy. 3. Pakistan attacked first on Western front of India and not India attacked Pakistan..you may refer interview of Najam sethi or Rauf Klasara ..of Pakistan 4. It was interest of India to fight on one front rather than two fronts.... especially when Pakistan attacked India in 1947 (in the cover of mujahdeen ) and in 1965 without any reason and false ambition. Above afacts should have been mentioned in your episode....rest all is fine. You are a very good narraor....good show.

1. Bhutto should have honoured the vote. And Bengalis should have ended their ethnic nationalism. Today Punjabis make up 60% of Pakistanis but they will not allow Punjabi to be on par with Pakistan’s unifying language of Urdu. Bengal should have been made a separate nation at partition for practical reasons. My family includes Bengalis so I have no prejudice. 2. Refugees poured into India and Pakistan at partition. Refugees poured into Pakistan from Kashmir after the Dogra genocide of Muslims in Jammu and Ladakh. Pakistan and India did not invade each other’s official territory over it. 3. India attacked Pakistan first by supporting countless ethnic militants to attack Pakistan. Thus the refugees were created also. India built training camps on Indian soil before Pakistan retaliated in any form during the war. Meanwhile Pakistan gave India a list of Khalistani militants. 4. India completely surrounded East Bengal on all sides. It began supporting secession in East Bengal years before the war. Pakistan only intervened in its disputed land of Kashmir. India invaded non-disputed Pakistani Punjab and Bengal, before exploding a nuclear bomb in a bordering state to nuclearise South Asia.

Pakistan has only intervened in its disputed territory of Kashmir following the Dogra genocide of Muslims in Jammu and Ladakh - As India invaded and occupied the Muslim Kingdoms of Junagadh and Hyderabad based on their Hindu majorities at partition. There is no conflict for Pakistan aside from its rights to its land in Kashmir. But it supports self determination for the Kashmiri people. It was India who invaded non-disputed Pakistani Punjab and Bengal before nuclearising South Asia. It was India who withheld Pakistan’s share of assets from the British Raj trying to make it collapse internally. And it is India who supports a hostile government against Pakistan in Afghanistan to create a 2 front war - which is Pakistan’s most dangerous border ever since Afghans killed Pakistan’s first minister and tried to occupy half its territory. India has also supported ethnic militancy against Pakistan which has killed tens of thousands of civilians and soldiers from KPK to Karachi and Balochistan. All non-disputed areas. As India did 50 years ago in East Pakistan even before the war - whilst Pakistan gave India the names of Khalistanis leaders to end the militancy. That’s without mentioning the burning of Pakistani civilians on the Samjhauta Express by Modi’s allies.

So this is what u know about the war of 1971? On 25 March 1971, suddenly Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was taken to West Pakistan jail as a captive and General Tikka Khan was made the governor in charge of East Pakistan. At midnight of 25 March, suddenly Pakistan Army came down in the streets of the city Dhaka and started to kill civil people who were not at all aware of this kind of military invasion. This genocide was a direct order from General Tikka Khan. After this massacre, M.A Hannan declared the independence of Bangladesh on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Because Mujibur Rahman gave this message to some leaders of Awami League via wireless just before he was made captive. The next day Major Ziaur Rahman, a Bengali army officer of Pakistan again declared the independence of Bangladesh on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from a temporary radio station situated at Kalurghat in Chattogram and this declaration reached to the people of Bangladesh through radio. Then the counter attack from Bengalis started. And in this video you said that Pakistan Army was able to stop the rebellion. Is it a joke? Pakistan army were losing almost each and every battle with Mukti Bahini since rainy season. Because the bridges were damages by bombs, navy could not enter inside the country and Pakistani soldiers were not the greatest swimmers. Where Bangladesh is a land of rivers and Mukti Bahini used the full advantage of this. In October 1971, a ship full of tanks arrived at the port and was shifted to the Sylhet Cantonment by the Pakistan Army, but Hero of Bengal, Quader Siddique from no where seized those tanks in the midway. In December Pakistan army lost control over the country except Dhaka. Pakistan army had only 93000 soldiers left then, and 50000 of them were protecting only Dhaka. So, you can see already most of the lands of Bangladesh were conquered by Muktu Bahini then. Losing the war was only a matter of time for Pakistan then. But they from nowhere attacked India in December. Then Indian Army joined with Mukti Bahini forced the soldiers of Pakistan to surrender and it was 16 December 1971 when the people of Bangladesh got their freedom from the enemy who killed our people for no reason, raped our women only to fulfill their physical need. This is the true history. Your tale is full of wrong information.

@mccolock maq Stranded Pakistanis are called 'Biharis' by general people here. Biharis can take education, medical consultancy, work opportunity if they are eligible. But irony of fate, most of them do not want to be educated and improve their condition. I live in Dhaka and often have to pass by the Bihari Camp situated at Mohammadpur in Dhaka. There I saw something very unusual. That place is well known for drugs. I don't know why, young Biharis often engage themselves in Drugs business, but surprisingly refuse to take education. During liberation war Biharis helped Pakistan Army a lot. That's why after our victory, they were very frightened and started to feel unsecured(that's pretty natural you know). From then, they started to stay away from Bengalis and could not overcome their narrow mindset till now except very few. Biharis who gained education, are working according to their merit. And they are equally treated. As far as I know, Biharis came to East Bengal to become Pakistani, not Bangladeshi. So, according to us they are Pakistani. I have no issue if we exchange our Pakistanis, with your Bengalis. But government of both countries can only say what will happen in future.

hello i m from bangladesh and i would strongly object a few things said in this video. 1st of all the idea of bangladesh as a nation 1st came to light in 1952 when we realized not only west pakistan will treat us like the british has but also they wont even let us speak or officially use bangla as a language. It didn't happen over night in 70-71. The bloody election we won , we saw it as a chance to equalize the difference between two parts. 2nd mukti bahini was fomed months after march 71..on march night when pak army attacked innocent unarmed bangladeshi people , there were no mukti bahinis , we had barely any benglai in the army and the pak army attacked police barrack that night since they were the only bengali in entire east pakistan that could shoot back . 3rd which type of nation sends its army loose on its own citizens in the cover of night while they were sleeping ? let me remind 2 unforgivable things u did in those nine months and take my word that we can never forgive pakistan for these 2 crimes . A) raping millions of bengali (muslim and hindu alike)women based on the theory "we (pak army) will put so many childs in their women that they will no longer remain bengali as their ethnicity will be changed. ( and these guys calls themselves muslims?) and B) during the end of the war when pak army realized they were losing, they dragged all our intellectuals... university teachers , architects , poets, engineers from their homes , people who remained neutral in the war , tied their hands , covered their eyes , put them in lines and just shot them . we have mass graves of this act all over our country (u can google and find out urselves) . No other nation in the history of mankind has done something this horrible to a ethnicity like pakistan has. And all this was done because the pakistani rulers thought without their intellectuals they will fail as a nation. Yes it took us nearly the lifetime of a whole generation to get back on our feet , now bangladesh is far ahead of pakistan in social and economic aspect . U can teach your young generations the false history u wish to all u want , WE BANGLADESHIS WILL BE HERE TO REMIND THEM OF THEIR ANCESTRAL CRIMES AGAIN AND AGAIN.

lot of lies...... 1. Muktibahini was formed after mass killings and rapes. 25th March was when "Operation Searchlight" happened and in May Muktibahini was formed. 2. India just closed their border for Pakistan. It was Pakistan who attacked India 1st because they couldn't give their army in Bangladesh their must needed supplies and that dragged India to the war. 3. In1970 elections Bhutto's Party got 3 seats in East Pakistan. Awami League got 157 seats among 160 in East Pakistan. 4. The "6 Demands" were because of the deprivation of each sector that Bengalis faced over 25 years. Pakistan earned most of its foreign money by the Jute,Textile,Tea and Rice of Bengal and spent most of it in West Pakistan. Your leaders made systems by our money,changed your Capital city several times,made infrustructures,schools and hospitals but didn't even made an effort to solve the flood problem or even give proper relief to flood affected people. There were many Brigades of armies of West Pakistan but in the East there was only one Regiment, The East Pakistan Regiment!!!!! Even in government jobs,there was discrimination. That's what caused the fuming inner hatred towards Pakistan. Neither the 6 Demands by Bangbandu nor the after election works. When you don't give people what they deserve,they will hate you. SIMPLE BASIC THING. 5. There was no mention of the killings of protesting students and people against deprivation that made the Bengalis hate the West Pakistani Regime and army. 6. No mention of the 30Lac people who were butchered by the Pakistan army in the 9 months of 1971.

I admire this series, however my brother, I think you should consider and mention the fact that Sheikh Mujeeb was caught in Agartala conspiracy ! And whole east pakistan was being held by Mukti Bahini just like karachi was held by MQM few years back. Officially you can say 1970 elections were fair, but there were not, read Book "Blood and Tears" by Quttubudin Aziz. You would likely conclude that 1970's was the worst time to hold elections it was a grave mistake by Yahya Khan.

Irshad Vohra Opposite analysis can also be true of Mujib and Buttu. East Pakistan infrastructurly was poor but majority of revenues of East being used in West for economic development. Many international monetary help was not even distributed to East, all kept by West Pak. Pakistan todate still didn't refund Bangladeshi's fund :)

( अगर मैं आपसे यह कहो की पहल आप की तरफ से कश्मीर पे कब्जा कर के हुई, जब J & k ) के राजा ने हिन्दोस्तान के साथ रहने की घोषणा कर दी तो कश्मीर के कुछ भाग पे पकिस्तान का कब्ज़ा गलत था / है जो आज भी " नासूर " की तरह चुभ रहा है ! मेरी तो एक ही सोच थी की आज भी एक ही देश होता / रहता तो देश आज भी सोने की चिड़िया ही होता ! अंग्रेज़ दोनों को लूट कर चले गए, दोनों की निशानिया भी तोड़ गए , मूर्तिओं से हीरे-मोती भी निकाल के ले गए यहां तक की " शाहजहाँ ' का सिंघासन भी ले गए और पता नहीं कहाँ गायब कर दिया ! फिर भी पुराने भाई-चारे की बहुत निशानिया आज भी संभाल के रखी है ! वक्त सब से बलवान होता है !
