In 1972 I remember reading an article in Overdrive magazine about the current model Petes, and how the company worked with buyers to provide custom outfitted interiors. Seems to me that back then they were running around $125K.

It's to bad you didn't mention anything about acquisition of DAF trucks in Europe. The acquisition of DAF Trucks N.V. in 1996 and Leyland Trucks in 1998 established PACCAR as one of the major truck manufacturers in the world. DAF Trucks is a Netherlands-based truck company with production facilities in Eindhoven, the Netherlands and Westerlo, Belgium. Leyland manufactures DAF trucks

@@mattcrowell7945 I think the first model year for the 377 was 1987, last year was 2000. The 120" bbc 385 kept the design going from that point until it was phased out completely in the mid-2000s and the 386 replaced it.

Leading in engine development In the early days, DAF installed Hercules and Perkins petrol and diesel engines, but in 1957 the Eindhoven company designed and began manufacturing the first DAF-branded engines. Two years later, DAF improved the DD575 diesel engine by adding a turbo charger which was another ground-breaking achievement. DAF introduced turbo intercooling as an industry-first in 1973. The technology was initially developed to meet the demand for higher engine outputs and lower fuel consumption, but also proved to be indispensable in realizing cleaner exhaust emissions. In the 1980s DAF launched ATi, Advanced Turbo Intercooling which provided further power and efficiency gains through a further refinement of injection technology and an optimised shape of the combustion chamber. In 2005, DAF unveiled the PACCAR MX engine that is now installed in all of DAF’s heavy-duty trucks and over 40% of Kenworth and Peterbilt built trucks. The latest generation MX-13 and MX-11 engines feature extremely efficient down speeded engines, intelligent drive lines and efficient rear axles that result in high torque being available at impressively low engine speeds for unmatched fuel efficiency and the highest driver comfort. Together with advanced vehicle software algorithms, excellent aerodynamics and a new compact after-treatment system, these DAF innovations result in a fuel efficiency gain of an impressive 7%, the largest fuel efficiency gain in the history of the company

All of that "aero-Dynanic and "Droop Snoot CRAP looks like a BATMOBILE, they have RUINED the LOOKS of those Trucks. I would NOT be caught DEAD in one of them!!! The Square Nose are the only ones with any "looks". People should not deviate from a WINNER. I do NOT like the "square headlights" they are more expensive to replace. And the CAR type steering wheels look awful. I much prefer the Dashboards from the 1970's for easy access. BB

Peterbilt along with Kenworth are by far among my most favorite Rigs on the road! I love all Peterbilt Rigs but I'll have to say the Peterbilt Model 359, 379, and 389 are my most favorite models. Paccar Motors owns Peterbilt and Kenworth and they are all great rigs! Love my Macks, Freightliners, Western Stars, and Internationals too however. The Peterbilt 359, 379, and 389 as well as the Kenworth W900, W900A, W900B, W900L, and Icon 900 are the models that you can paint almost any color and put as many customizations as possible and they still look great! Kenworth are okay also but Freightliner ain't worth anything to me. Yeah it's Daimler brand but I prefer the Mercedes-Benz SK Series truck better. Mack were special because of E9 V8 Engine but nowadays it's just based on a Volvo Engine. Scania is like Swedish version of Peterbilt and they still offered a V8 but I don't know why they didn't enter the US Market. Hino Profia/ Super Dolophin are awesome and very reliable engine due to the fact that they owned by Toyota but they didn't bother make a Semi Truck in America. And Kamaz? lol Import one from russia.
