well that was an interesting and surprising video to find at 6am this morn. I grew up in Salisbury. I used to play on the rr tressel and in the National Cemetary. Passed the Andrew Jackson studied here building daily, visited most of the spots in the video many times, went to Boyden High which was renamed Salisbury High a few years after I graduated. I watched the black people march (in a single line, dressed in their Sunday best, with great courage in the early 60s) for equality. Kresses, Montgomery Ward, Belks and other stores didn't have AC rather high ceilings and large hanging fans. Capital and Center Theaters did have AC and for 10 cents you could watch two saturday morning movies. Some were even in color. Businesses closed on wednesday afternoons and no alcohol was sold on sunday. Blacks had to sit in the back of the bus. There were black and white water fountains, bathrooms and lots of hidden racism at least for the kids. I have good and bad memories, and lots of relatives in the area and Winston-Salem. That is if any are alive and still in NC. Old Salisbury hasn't changed much in the last 60 years. thanks

Hey there Ron. I grew up just across the river in Lexington and what you described is exactly the way it was too. It's funny, I thought stores closing on Wednesday afternoon was a Lexington thing. Up until the last couple years there were still uptown businesses that closed at noon on Wednesday. I remember the 'colored' water fountains as my mother had to stop me from getting a drink one day because I thought colored meant it dispensed Kool Aid. Kind of hard to explain to a six year old who grew up knowing many African Americans. We visited Salisbury quie often because my father's sister lived there and I played in City Lake Park. Those swings were awesome. My great uncle owned the dry cleaners down on W Innes and I think there was a stuffed polar bear in the place. I remember shopping for groceries at the original Food Town he sho2ed in the video. One thing has changed though, and not for the better. The Chicken Shack is no more, although I wasn't allowed there because they sold beer. Davidson County was 'dry'. I still remember the 'package stores' lining the highway just before crossind the river. The things we remember from our youth. ☺️ I suppose the most notable change was the removal of the monument on Innes Street.

the reason im commenting is because, "120 years no converts". I was intrigued. An enlightened person from Salisbury? Unfortunately not. went to your page. What if you are wrong about all those christian things you post about? What if it is all just a misunderstanding or just old stories handed down from generation to generation. what if the muslims are right? what if the atheists are right? I would think a person with your conviction would study and find out why after 120 years you haven't converted anyone. Maybe because you don't have good reasons to back up your beliefs. I encourage you to study the opposition and their reasons for thinking they way they think. Don't judge their reasons just listen.

Note: I miust Preface this, as my comment is in no way a Review of this Video or the Channel's works, it is in reference to the Historical Figures, the News Media, and our "state of mind", in reference to being Judgemental and behaving from our Lower Mind. It is Obviously an area that would improve through awareness, as the "state 9f mind" 8s directly related to our "learned ideas and prejudices" that I refer to as "Our Thoughts Program" aka "Subconscious Thought Program" and these are Overwhelmingly reactions to stimuli, (headlines, Commentaries, 24hr Cable News Programs self described by the owners as "Opinion News" Opinions do not belong in News, which is why they are labeled as Editorials or Commentaries, and they aren't to be supposed as factual. __________________________ It's difficult to gather a perspective on figures in History, particularly Presidents. That which has totally ruined our current New Media, also influenced the Presidents throughout History, though there were many Newspapers that were Ethical Journalism works, however, there were those influenced by Agendas and the stories are rife with "Commentaries" aka Opinions. When gathering the components to really get a feel for the individuals, there are Public Records, Legislative Records, Era Newspapers, and I trust these over the "Books", be they History Books, Biographies, or Subject Specific books. I look at their voting records on subjects of value and interest, the projects they focused on, and their roles in their Local Community. I discern based on their Works. (Their Personal Life is just that, Personal, and unless an individual is involved in any Abuses, to wife, family, children, others, and/or any inappropriate behaviors with children). Basically what another does privately is not my business not anyone else's. Only if they are Emotionally, Physically, Sexually abusive and certainly any misconduct involving children. The desires to know others personal business has become a media venue for Profits, and it draws those whom seem to feed on the energies of gossip , "to each their own", I would merely point out that, (gossip, prejudices, making Judgemental accusations) are all associated with our "Human Lower Mind, aka Ego Mind, aka Adolescent Mind", where all negative thought energies reside, where the learned fear based ideas are sources, and these do not serve anyone well). Our "Thoughts + Feelings X Beliefs" literally create our reality, reference: the "Universal Law of Attraction". We are well served to establish a habit of being "Conscious in Thought" + "Applying Higher Mind", aka Mature Mind, where all Positive Thought Energies and Wisdom reside. The subject is "my gig" Beth Bartlett Sociologist/Behavioralist and Historian (Journalism is my 3rd area of Degrees) "Discernment rather than Judgemental"

How pompous and grandiose you are. No one listening to this gives a rats hind end about this word salad dissertation nor your many self proclaimed qualifications. You sound like a woke kook.
