When we say "mishti" (sweets) of Bengal, surely images of rosogolla, ledikeni, sandesh, mihidana-sitabhog, and so on arise in front of your eyes. These are all kinds of sweets, the best of Bengal. But if you know, you will be surprised that rosogolla, sandesh, pantua-ledikeni, cham cham, rasamalai, and other such sweets are not the original sweets of Bengalis. However, what were the sweets of ancient Bengal like? Which sweets adorned the pages of Bengali culture back then?
